IDB-only private server

Hi,
I'm currently tinkering around with OdinMS (http://www.odinms.de) to create a private server (not for serious play, just messing around with 4th job that you'd never get, summoning Zakum, whatever). All it requires for you to play is just a different client executeable (e.g. idbms.exe instead of MapleStory.exe) placed in the MS folder.

Anyways, I've tested it out on my desktop right now, and I'll be setting it up on my server (the same one that hosts IRC) when I get the chance. So until then, it won't be available. I'll update this thread when it will be.

Now, in order for you to create an account, i'll need to manually register your accounts into a database. The password will be encrypted, so I'll never touch or see your actual password. Encryption 101: You type in your password into a thing to encrypt it, it uses an algorithm to make it something that isn't your password. When you enter your password into the game, it uses that same algorithm and sees if it matches. If someone sees the encrypted password, most people won't be able to use it for anything. However, it's not completely secure still to post the password hash on the forum (thanks to Spaz for pointing that out) so for safe measure, use a different password than one you use elsewhere. If you don't feel safe posting the password hash here, send it to me in a PM, but still post here to make an account.

You can encrypt your password here: http://www.ratajik.com/CreateNetPassword/Default.aspx. You will want to type in a password, select SHA1 from the encryption type, and hit "Encrypt." Mike: Please make your password 5-12 characters, I've had problems with ones shorter than 5.

To make an account, simply post here in this format:
Login ID: loginidhere
Encrypted password: password hash here or something indicating that you sent me a PM.

If your account on IDB was made on or after 4/27, you cannot play on this server. I reserve the right to make exceptions to this rule as well as refuse anybody access to this server.

I PM'ed my info on IRC. I can see this being useful for trying certain things out. It'd be pretty cool to do an IDB zakum run on it since we'll never be able to do one in real MS.

And in case you didn't see it on the first post, do NOT use the same password here that you use for something else, because these password hashes can be cracked pretty easily.
