RE: Quantifying the cost/benefits of using the Lab and Quests.
My pet has been unlucky at the Ray in terms of it's STR...

Species: Poogle
Colour: Electric
Gender: Female
Age: 1383 days
Level: 49

Health: 456 / 449
Mood: content
Hunger: bloated
Strength: LEGENDARY (128)
Defence: very heavy
Move: EXCELLENT (56)
Intelligence: ULTIMATE GENIUS (142)

I probably started with hp,str, def and 40 each... it's too late and not worth it to start training by codestones now.(though i maintain level 50 for berserk) Well my STR is really low and the lab isn't helping me much =( Other than K-quest, labbing and maybe using stat-increasers what else can i do to improve it's STR? I've been thinking of abandoning my other pet but the pound is closed for so long. when does it open?

Q77 Wrote:so labrats aren't tanks. Also tanks are usually better at 1p in the long run since the 700 def boost comes really helpful in 1p. It's arguable how good labrats are in the 1p category, but getting one win on a tough opponent is easier with a labrat whereas getting multiple wins (like a few hundred on the riilan guy or militia) is not so easy with a labrat.

What? Not really, actually the lab is designed to be perfect for 1p battlers. Since in 1p HP is the most important stat (since it is always useful, while STR and DEF max out a 700), so it's always better to get HP over any other stat. Anyway, defense is possibly not even worth training at all for 1p, since there are no spectacular defensive weps that are way better than the pure offense items that cost the same amount. Years ago I had the choice of whether or not to train defense or not, I chose not which I'm pretty sure was the right choice, since it allowed me to pour tons more time and money into the much more useful stats of STR and HP.

I also beg to differ on the importance of defense in 1-P, Q. Toungue In my opinion, after dropping a fortune training defense to 700, I haven't really seen much in terms of benefits. Having higher hp allows you to survive for longer, and take bigger hits. Sure, I can also reduce the damage I'm receiving, but I also require the appropriate weapons to defend the right icons. Where the lab rat has more opportunity to hit with 2 constants each round, I am stuck more often with one constant + one shield and end up doing substantially less damage per round. This means that unless I have a kick-butt combination of defensive weapons, my "tank" pet will max earlier than a labrat.

The 700 defense is a nice accessory-type thing, but an HP advantage (or disadvantage) is far more noticeable especially around the higher leagues.

EDIT: I lie, it's also a really nice advantage in the lower leagues of course. ;_;
