RE: Advent Calendar Books: Good Investment??
Well, seeing as almost everyone gets the book, you'd only have the people who missed it and the people who want more than one of their pets as a target group. You can make a profit, but it won't be nearly as much as regular (retired or rare) books. You'll also be competing with a lot of people that sell their book off (so that's even less people interested in buying books), so you can count on a low price and low profit to match it.

RE: Advent Calendar Books: Good Investment??
Actually, I've made millions off the advent books. Sort of my primary source of income these days.
But you have to hang on to them for, oh, two or so years. But don't buy them now. Wait until people clear out their SDBs in, say... July or so. Smile

RE: Advent Calendar Books: Good Investment??
thats what i was thinking...alot of the newer players read their pets the books right when they get them, so alot of them are gone...i remember one that was given out a couple years ago that i sold last year i think for over 11k, so i would think getting a good bit of them, holding on to them, and then selling them for a larger profit would be a good idea. but i have 2 different opinions and would like so more input Smile

I've been buying them, and investing in them, hoping that they'll inflate. Meepit Carols are cute.

RE: Advent Calendar Books: Good Investment??
Some of the AC books given out in Year 5 are worth around 10k-20k or more. If you are really patient and don't mind waiting a few years for them to inflate, it is a great investment.

It's great how this discussion was in both General Neopets and in the Econotorium and the overall opinions were exactly opposite each other.

RE: Advent Calendar Books: Good Investment??
I don't have access to the Econotorium so I don't know that thread but having to wait 2-3 years to realise 10-20k on something that is free would have to be considered a poor investment. Buy/sell on the day of release and you can easily do the same or better with no wait. Real inflation is rampant so the only effective strategy for items is quick buy/sell unless you can luck out on a Cove item or some such.

I see your point. A few years is longer than I thought. You'd be better off investing in other areas.

RE: Advent Calendar Books: Good Investment??
true, but i normally go to the money tree (yeah, i know, i'm still pretty poor) after days of AC to get any books that i can, which start to stack up
