Set upgrade advice
Hey, been a while since i was last here ^^
Looking to get my pet to a point where he is Def of Neopia / plot worthy etc. Darigan Lupe Lvl : 30 Str : 57 Def : 26 Mov : 32 Hp : 60 / 60 Weaps are pretty weak at the moment - Mud Mixture Leaf Shield Slime Potion Downsize! Scarab Ring Caustic Potion Illusens Earth Potion Illusens Potion I have 3mil in pure, plus another mil in stocks. But i dont really want to spend more than 1-1.5mil tbh unless necessary. Currently training def towards the 35 break, then thinking about taking str to the 85 break, and max the hp along the way. Gonna be using dubloons for as long as possible to reduce the costs. Not sure what kind of stats i should be aiming for. Guessing mov is still useless? Not sure how much def and how to use it for 1P? Not sure what to do about weapons. Currently about half way through NQII Evil. If nothing else, that should give me some more NP from the prize, and could always look to do Insane after. Set would only be for 1P. Thanks in advance. Chris. |

RE: Set upgrade advice
At this point, training is probably your best investment, and I wouldn't even hit the lower of the two budgets you mentioned for weapons. I personally think defense is a good thing to have, and am happy that I invested in it, though it's more of factor in two-player than one I think. As for your weapons, the Leaf Shield, Downsize! and Scarab Ring are all worth keeping. The rest of the stuff is either pretty bad, or stuff you've outgrown. I'd move up to a Greater Healing Scroll as a healer here, as you already have enough hit points to make it worth while. Stay away from training hit points at the moment and work on defense, then strength to 60. If you're going to train defense, keep hitting away on it now until you also reach 60 there, then start adding levels and bring your strength, then defense up to 85. If you neglect defense now and train strength to 85, you're just going to increase the cost of training defense later. Obviously if you're not going to train defense, this is a moot point.
I'd get an inexpensive Purple Sticky Hand as for some one-player opponents stealing is worthwhile. You also should have some hope of getting in a freeze. A GOOD freezer is well out of your budget, but you could look at a Green Frost Cannon or Snowball Staff to give you a shot (I personally prefer the first, though one could make an arguement for either). Also, you need to think about whether you're going to get the lab ray at some point, and whether you want your pet to always be a Lupe. Lupes have some fragile freezers that are a consideration if that's the species you're in love with. You need some offense, and if you're going to be a regular trainer of defense, it's time to add additional dual duties to go with your Scarab Ring. By the way, if you're NOT going to train defense, the Leaf Shield won't be of great use to you. Anyway, a Golden Compass wouldn't be a bad item for you giving you some dark defense (if you're training defense), and some multi-use punch. An Essence of Esophogar wouldn't be a bad companion. A Frozen Wand of Crystals wouldn't be a bad additional weapon, adding water defense with some attack, and a Cloudy Wand of Storms would be another consideration, along with an Amulet of Inevitable Betrayal OR Sword of the Dead for attack with light defense. You can pretend to care, but you can't pretend to BE THERE! |

RE: Set upgrade advice
looks ur pet has nearly the same as mine ... but my pet's strength is much weaker...
ur weapon's really needs some change....big change... Firstly slime potion is really not great for u ... greater healing scroll does 50 instead of 10 (almose forgotten....its pre-damage healing...) Blue Scorchstone offers 30 pre-damage healing Secondly get some 7~9iconers Examples are.... Stone Club 9 icons Ice Club 9icons Curious Sticks of Lethal Wax 7~9icons Von Roo Dice 6~9icons Frozen Wand of Crystals 7.6icons Cloudy Wand of Storms 7.2icons Golden Compass 9icons (both three with defence icons) |

RE: Set upgrade advice
Well if you are set on the 1p only route this is really pretty easy, make your set:
GHS PPot PPot Downsize! And 2 constants such as 2x scuzzys comb that give you the largest number of icons per np. Train with the rest of your NP until you get to the 200-250 strength boost, upgrading your healer along the way. If you get the NP, you could get something like Ring of the Lost, Pirate Captains Hat or Greater UBend for maxing out on specific opponents after youve trained a bit more. Use the Constants when you get a new challenger and need to repeatedly beat him until he gets to a point where prickly potions deal more damage. Ive found, that any 1p opponent that has less strength that your defense boost, can gennerally be beat just with those constants hitting away, and by the time that you need to use defense, those items are too weak to stop large portions of the opponents damage anyways. The only real defensive items that are going to be useful to you are full blockers and reflectors, which don't require you to train defense. However, I would recommend training defense anyways, in case you do decide to take part in 2p battling, you don't want the cost to train your defense up to be too high. There are a lot of great sp weapons that get outclassed very quickly in 1p if you can't have a high enough defense (550+ is usually the number I stick to for having defense be worthwhile while maxing out opponents). If you do do 2p, or eventually get to have a huge pet with 600+ stats you will be glad you trained defense now while its cheap, instead of having to pay close to 100-150K per stat with stat increasers. |
