NQ2 weapons & Inflation :K Why?

NQ2 weapons & Inflation :K Why?
I've been noticing an inflation in NQ2 weapons, mainly BoD, WoR & SC.
About 6 months ago I was thinking about buying dual BoD or WoR and found the prices to be around 3.85 - 4 mil for the BoD and ever so slightly less for the WoR. Currently they are both around 4.6 - 4.9 mil Pffft I didn't buy them back then because I got a deal on a SoS that was so sweet I couldn't say no. So now after recouping some NP I looked back into buying them again, and low and behold instead of the prices falling slightly (which I thought/hoped they would) I find that they have only risen in price.Cry
SC IDB Price : 224K - 336K Current TP price = 400K+
RSB has stayed about the same since I bought mine 8 months ago, and I am not sure on the other NQ2 weapons.
Why is it that those 3 weapons have inflated, but not the others?
Isn't RSB (if priced the same) a bit more useful then SC in either 1P or 2P?

Thoughts anyone?

RE: NQ2 weapons & Inflation :K Why?
Until the Spellbook becomes cheaper than Scuzzys Comb, it is debatably worse in One Player (for that reason alone, really), and neither is very good in Two Player anymore (Golden Compass smashes the Spellbook while several things smash the Comb).

There are two reasons for the inflation, in my opinion. I suppose four (two "good" reasons, and and a lesser reason for each set).

Each weapon had room to inflate. Scuzzys is moreso in the demand, I'd imagine. It's the cheapest upgrade from the 9-iconers. WoR and BoD could easily inflate up to around 7 million without being "too expensive" (for the amount of icons they do).

Secondly, I believe that no one's playing NQII anymore. The deflation of the Evil-range weapons and the chance of landing the Staff in Insane have quite probably killed the desire for several players to go through that far.

... I've suddenly forgotten most of my other points. Unless that was everything.

I only disagree with Shattered in regard to an upper range price on the WoR and BoD, which I think he has listed much too high. I'd also guess that a bit of the reason is also the calendar, as a large portion of Neopets players are students, and in the summer, they have vastly more time to play games than they do during the school year. I'd also guess that Neopets in general has matured a bit as a site (is longer in the tooth), and has lost a bit of momentum in general, and the lack of wars, and the minimization of Battledome activities in general have made the weapons area less attractive. Further, the generation of players that was "new" or "prime" when NQII was "new and exciting" have aged and many have moved on, leaving a supply of unused weapon either equipped to inactive pets, or in safe deposit boxes. "Generations" of players in comp games are so compacted, that weapons tend to appear and disappear in waves over a couple of years.

Oh yeah, I remember them, and the Hand Painted Scarab days before them. Keep in mind that those weapons were also downgraded (in the case of the Scarab, multiple times), which hastened their fall from grace. But in the same time period, the Zaptwig was considered a FINE weapon used by better battlers, and time, rarity and new introductions of alternative offensive weapons, and/or defensive blockers also change tastes over time. These days, the Zaptwig is of early career power and not a particularly feared item.

At the moment, I don't.

Dull Stone Axe and Ultra Bubble Gun are not actually upgrades from the NQ2 insane weapons, to get more average icons you have to go to Asparachucks or Werelupe Claw Necklace. And none of those are as tactically sound as WoR and BoD are.

So the major ceiling on the price is the availability and large supply of BoD/WoR. As the supply shrinks, there's nothing else stopping the price from rising to the price of UBG, and not all that much stopping the price from rising to SoS level.

Of course, this is only for the current weapons market. I have a hunch that within the not-too-distant-future, icon inflation will do the same thing to the NQ2 insane weapons that it did to the NQ2 evil weapons.
