Need Advice-BD set
Hi, Well, I need some help figuring what to get as far as a decent BD set goes.
Here are my stats:
Level: 51
Health: 102 / 102
Strength: (87)
Defence: (76)
Move: (76)
Intelligence: (1339)

Here is my current BD set...

Downsize!
Scarab Ring
Earth Faerie Slingshot
Patched Magic Hat
Leaf Shield
Heavy Robe of Thievery
Freezing Potion
Greater Healing Scroll

I got the FPot recently and the HRoT as well... as far as defence and attack weapons I have no idea.
Any help is greatly appreciated

RE: Need Advice-BD set
blue_7899, a couple of questions:
- What sort of budget are you working on?
- Do you do 1-player or 2-player battling? (or both?)
- What species is your pet?

Downsize! - This will stay in your set for the foreseeable future.

Scarab Ring - For it's price it is an incredible weapon. However, I am going to suggest replacing it with a Golden Compass as I think its dark defence is more useful than the fire defence of the Scarab Ring.

Earth Faerie Slingshot - This needs to be replaced by at least a constant 9 iconer. If you mainly do 1-player there's several options: Ice Club, Stone Club, Pike Pike, Psellias Fighting Fan or Essence of Esophagor. If you can afford it, the 10 icons of Scuzzys Comb would be even better. If you mainly do 2-player then you're probably best getting a Steaming Skeem Potion which does 11 icons, providing your opponent has 20+ intelligence (it does 8 icons otherwise). There's also the Jittery Jipple Potion which does 10 icons providing your opponent has 10+ intelligence (it does 6 icons otherwise). Or alternatively there's the more expensive 10 iconer Ramtors Spellbook which is preferable to the Scuzzys Comb in 2-player due to it's icon types.

Patched Magic Hat - Not sure of the need for both this and the Leaf Shield as they both defend earth and physical. I'd suggest replacing this with a light defending dual duty such as Sword of the Dead, Amulet of Inevitable Betrayal or Dusty Magic Broom (depending on your budget)

Leaf Shield - Keep this, having a shield in 2-player is important, and it can be useful in 1-player too.

Heavy Robe of Thievery - I'll admit, I'm slightly confused as to why this is in your set. I personally don't know much about it, but according to IDB it only steals when your agility is 200+. So at the moment, if I understand correctly, this is rather useless with your current stats. If you want a stealer Purple Sticky Hand is probably the best value for money, and steals ~50% of the time. Otherwise this slot is better used with another constant from the options mentioned earlier.

Freezing Potion - This will probably never leave your set.

Greater Healing Scroll - At your current HP this is probably sufficient. However, since you have the intelligence for it, you may want to consider Short Sleeved Yellow Tunic which heals 75 HP and defends 6 icons, but this isn't really something you need just yet.

If you can afford a Honey Potion then I'd replace the Heavy Robe of Thievery with one (since stealing is almost always pointless, except in certain 1-player fights).

So your set should look something like this:
Downsize!
Golden Compass
Stone Club (or better) / Steaming Skeem Potion
Sword of the Dead (or better)
Leaf Shield
(Honey Potion) / Purple Sticky Hand / Ice Club (or better)
Freezing Potion
Greater Healing Scroll

SDB: Scarab Ring, (Purple Sticky Hand), Heavy Robe of Thievery (if you plan on training agility)

Edit: Woah. Didn't realise quite how much I'd written! Ah well, hope it helps Toungue

RE: Need Advice-BD set
Thank you so much for your answers...
I really appreciate it,
I plan to keep training indefinitely, as long as I can afford it anyways. Smile
To answer the questions...

- What sort of budget are you working on?
a lil over 7 mill at the moment.. but I am willing to save up for however long I need to, since I do not buy much of anythign else, other than quests, and training at the moment.
- Do you do 1-player or 2-player battling? (or both?)
Mainly 1P, but would like to be able to do the ocasional 2P when possible
- What species is your pet?
I have a Kau, and would like to keep him as a Kau, if at all possible, which throws species healer out of the equation for right now.
(Actually was saving up for a BoHD, since from what I have read they are pretty good.)

Thank you so much.. Smile
My pets name is Rumproast163 by the way.... Sorry forgot to add species and name on the first post.

RE: Need Advice-BD set
Thanks for answering my questions, I can be slightly more specific in my suggestions now Smile

As before, the Downsize! and Freezing Potion are definite keeps. Since you have a somewhat higher budget that I anticipated, you can actually afford to venture beyond the 10 icon constants I mentioned. There's only 3 real options that I can think of: Bow of Destiny and Wand of Reality both do a constant 13 icons, and Sword of Apocalypse which does between ~8.5 and 13 icons, averaging ~11. There's also the Staff Of Righteous Fury which does between 7.5 and 12 icons, averaging ~10 icons and the "TCG Blasters", which are all constant 11 icons, however the jump in price from the 10 iconers is pretty steep, and generally not really worthwhile.

With regards to the healer, your Greater Healing Scroll will suffice for the near future. Since you have the intelligence for it, you may want to consider upgrading to the Short Sleeved Yellow Tunic when your HP gets higher, but other than that unfortunately the next non-species healer would be the Bag of Healing Dust.

So with your budget I'd suggest a set that looks something like this:
Downsize!
Freezing Potion
Honey Potion
Bow of Destiny / Wand of Reality (whichever you can get cheaper, both are currently floating around the 4 mil mark)
Sword of Apocalypse - this is assuming that you don't mind the risk of only doing ~8.5 icons. If you're not a gambler then replace this with a Scuzzys Comb or similar.
Scuzzys Comb / any other backup constant
Greater Healing Scroll
Purple Sticky Hand / Leaf Shield / Patched Magic Hat / Heavy Robe of Thievery (when you have the agility requirement) - switch these around depending on your opponent.
