Weapon advice...
So...a little help?

Species: Kau
Hit Points: 80 / 80
Strength: EXCELLENT (46)
Defence: AWESOME (65)
Movement: mach 4
Intelligence: bright

Set...
Leaf Shield
Scarab Ring
Mask of Coltzan
Dusty Magic Broom
Honey Potion
Greater Healing Scroll
Downsize!
Jittery Jipple Potion

I battle only 2 player in a guild that has a no freeze rule, hence why I haven't bothered looking into one. Right now I've literally got nothing to spend because, like an idiot, I invested 3 mil into those stupid Y9 bags which still haven't retired. I am curious as to what I should be aiming to upgrade next, though.
This was going to be my league 5 pet...until a super bonus put me a few hp over. So I guess I'm looking to max out league 6 with one defense boost higher than strength.
Income really varies...anywhere from 5k to 75k a day depending on how much patience I have.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

...oh, and how do you link weapons in posts to their idb page?

RE: Weapon advice...
No advice from me. I don't fight 2p, so I wouldn't know many good weapons for it. But I can answer your last question.

SirPepsi Wrote:...oh, and how do you link weapons in posts to their idb page?

Like this (remove spaces): [ idb ]weapon name here[ /idb ]

So your set would be:

SirPepsi Wrote:Leaf Shield
Scarab Ring
Mask of Coltzan
Dusty Magic Broom
Honey Potion
Greater Healing Scroll
Downsize!
Jittery Jipple Potion

RE: Weapon advice...
for now i will advise you getting these weapons(when you have the money):
Steaming Skeem Potion
Fiery Battle Duck
Icy Battle Duck
theyre good weapons for tanks, as you should know, SSP works better with pets that have 20+ Intelligence, so when not use the Fiery BD, and ever use the Icy one. toss to your SDB the ring and the shield, and also get a Purple Sticky Hand for your SDB.

What's the worst that I can say? Things are better if I stay! So long and goodnight, So long and goodnight!

RE: Weapon advice...
Not sure how useful the leaf shield will be, seeing as you have MoC.
I'm not too familiar with tanks but what I do know is they make the most of defence, so maybe swapping out leaf shield with a Golden Compass. Another weapon you could look at is Pike Pike as it is quite hard to block.
Seeing as you will be battling people with low strength boosts, you may want an Everlasting Crystal Apple, not sure if this conflicts with your guild rules though!

I'm curious. What makes you say that these are good weapons for tanks since they are not defensive driven?

Anyway...

I would take out Leaf Shield and sell that off and put Scarab Ring into your SDB. You're compromising your defences abit for 1 or 2 icons, but don't worry, your Kau has natural resistance already Wink

I would suggest that you fill up the two empty slot with some 9 iconers:

- Essence of Esophagor to pair with your Dusty Magic broom to give a solid amount of earth that can overpower Leaf Shield and Patched Magic Hat

- Pike Pike to pair with you Essence of Esophagor to add to the water attack that can overpower Leaf Shield.

I would in fact take Jittery Jipple Potion out and have it saved in your SDB as a back up instead of having it in your main set. I would suggest replacing that with a Skeletal Fire Gun to supplement your Mask of Coltzan fire attack.

My suggested set:
Pike Pike
Essence of Esophagor
Mask of Coltzan
Dusty Magic Broom
Honey Potion
Greater Healing Scroll
Downsize!
Skeletal Fire Gun

Upgrades cost less than 500k. Not in the millions... Cool

Anyway...
hard-to-block icons are important for tanks because since their attack boost is lower they need that the most of its attack go through of their foes defences, a balanced pet(or lab rat) doesnt have to worry much about this because its attack boost is higer.(this is what i think... i putted it because i saw it on your blog... well, the price of the fame)

RE: Weapon advice...
Hmmm...thanks, I'll look into those.
The leaf shield combined with DMB is my counter to EoE or Pike Pike, though.
So I was kinda keeping it until possibly upgrading to Hobans Hat? I dunno.
I must say that I do like the idea of pairing the SFG with MoC.
The battle ducks seem a bit expensive for what they do...
And believe me, if multihealing were allowed, the first thing on my list would be a Bracelet of Kings.
Thanks for the input guys Smile

Wow, my blog got readers! Chomik

You must have gotten the idea from my latest entry then. Yes, the entry is about an advice I gave to a tank pet, and yes in my suggestion I mentioned that the ducks should be left in the set. Reason for that is because he ALREADY has the ducks in the original set.

What I DIDN'T say was that they make good tank weapons. What I said instead was:

Quote:I agree though that as a tank you should exploit your high defences, so dual duties are the way to go.

You can take a read at it again. I didn't ammend anything on that entry. If I did that would reflect badly on me as a rater and I deserve to be kicked out of IDB.

I DID though remember that I answered a post telling someone else that between defence and offence, one should put more emphasis on iconage in the offence, since tanks attack boost is lower. So the best case scenario would be to choose a weapon that is dual duty, but heavy in attack instead of defence.

EG: between Ethereal Sword and [/idb]Amulet of Inevitable Betrayal[/idb], I would choose the Amulet for a tank pet.

I'm not discrediting your reasoning for chosing the ducks, though. I was merely curious.

Quote:hard-to-block icons are important for tanks because since their attack boost is lower they need that the most of its attack go through of their foes defences

Yes, that statement is partially true. But I also mentioned in my ratings for both these ducks that they should serve as back up weapons rather than main offensives. Both of them being used together is great. But both of them are totally offensive weapons. And for a tank to use totally offensive weapons is a waste of his or her advantage.

I may seem to be shooting myself in the leg with that statement cos I had just recommended 3 totally offensive weapons to his set. BUT noticed that at least 2 of the weapons can serve to supplement at least 1 of the dual duties he has? So my suggestions are still being tactically defensive!

How about Pike Pike and Essence of Esophagor? It is a double offensive combo, right? How does that fit in the tank pet set? Well, they can be used during Burrow and Sink, so hey, the pet can STILL defensive!

Taking a look at your suggestion again; among the three weapons you suggested, I would highly recommend the Fiery Battle Duck in this set, as he already has a Mask of Coltzan, a dual duty. The fire from the Duck will help supplement the fire from the Mask to give a solid 13 icons of fire offensive. I would suggest the other two weapons IF they are able to supplement at least one of the dual duties he is carrying.

But now I am considering the fact that he has hardly any budget to work with. So I suggested something a tad lesser for far cheaper price. Eventually, if he has enough budget, and a set that compliments well, the Ducks would be a lovely upgrade Smile

If water is an issue, I would suggest Sophies Wooden Spoon as a step below Hobans Hat

RE: Weapon advice...
I don't know very much about tanks, and I'm kind of busy so can't right out a proper length reply but I thought i'd just throw out the idea of the Tower Shield, defends 2 of each icon except for water.

RE: Weapon advice...
I'm not looking to be a full out tank, though.
Just one defensive boost higher than strength doesn't constitute a tank.
The finished stats would look something like this...
Strength- 55
Defense- 85
HP- 99

So I really thought about getting a TS for a while, but the fact that it would only defend a little more than 2 of each icon for me doesn't really seem all that useful. Thanks, though.

Given his strong defence boost, his current set of Mask of Coltzan & Dusty Magic Broom would be more powerful.

Tower Shield isn't useful, trust me. I rather get Sophies Magic Hat

Upgrades/Alternatives to Dual-duty weapons:
Hobans Hat
Air Faerie Crown
Ring of the Lost
Sophies Magic Hat
Patched Magic Hat
Mystical White Cloak
Yooyuball Keepers Chest Guard
