2 player dual duty set for 20-35 boost?

Wink 2 player dual duty set for 20-35 boost?
I am currently training up a new pet the old fashioned way (codestone training). Firstly I will just give the stats etc

Pet name: Scruffstar
Species: peophin
Level: 15
Strength:28
Defense:28
Health:21

Current set:
blue scorchstone
Shiny Shoal Shell Shield
Ethereal Sword
Makeshift Ships Hammer
golden compass

other weapons I have include earth faerie slingshot, leaf shield, pmh, skeletal fire gun, thief dagger, earthen scorchstone, all the 50% fragile reflectors, Fighting Folder and jittery jipple

Budget you have to spend: 6mil (however much of this is in reserve for a peophin harp) so say 2mil

I intend this pet to be for 2-player

train with codestones - coltzan etc

so I will be approaching the 35 boost for both strength and def very soon and I will then be able to take part in these..guild wars? I would like to know if this is the best sort of lineup in terms of dual duties/shields? Are there any better solutions for air def then the shell shield? - Also I finally was able to paint my peophin pirate so I will not be changing species. Assume that I will eventually find someone to sell me a golden peophin harp. I am also not interested in mask of coltzan as I do not think the dark def is very attractive.

phew, hope that was not overkill of information. I seriously hope I have left nothing out..

thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing suggestions for a better lineup

Your info is a dream to work with, thank you very much!

First let me address some of the things you say in the 3rd paragraph.

Air defence (I'm listing out which I feel are worthy contenders):

Shields
Sinsis Crown
Earthen Scorchstone
Mystical White Robe

Dual Duties
Scroll of the Western Winds
Scarab Medallion
Brilliant Wing Amulet
Psellias Blessing
Winged Scarab
Qasalan Double Bladed Staff
Commander Blade... but that's cos I'm biased Chomik

About the Mask of Coltzan, comparing its dark defence to items like Ring of the Lost and Ghostkershield, it can be seen as a joke. In that case Golden Compass would be court jester.

But why then do people (like yourself) use the Golden Compass when they know the dark defence is not even a full 3 icons? Cos it is not ONLY about the dark defence; the very same reasoning for the popularity of Mask of Coltzan.

However, the Mask of Coltzan falls out of your budget anyway, so that will pretty much be all that you'll read about the Mask of Coltzan in this reply, heh.

Let's take a look at your set...

With 2 million, I would usually first suggest a Honey Potion. But I am seeing that your set in genral needs tweaks, so I would reserve that for later instead.

I got a kick when I saw the Ethereal Sword! Rotfl Don't worry, nothing wrong with it. In fact, it is a good choice for your set. You might wanna combo it together with another dual duty that I have listed above to make an all out air-based kill spree Wink.

You have sooooo many shields but not enough power in your attack. And all that weapon, but no Scarab Ring? Seriously, have one main shield to work with and revolve everything else around that shield instead. For example, you might wanna choose a Leaf Shield and plug in all the holes left behind with dual duties that defence icons that the shield left out. Such a set might look something like this:

Leaf Shield
Scarab Medallion
Golden Compass
Scarab Ring
Ethereal Sword

That is not a combo I would suggest, though. This set have constraint your options to the point that you have space only for your healer, freezer and main weapon. Not wise.

What I would suggest instead: Think less about defending against water but concentrate on your fire defences. Why? Because Peophins are resistant to water and earth but very weak against fire (It's species resistance and weakness dictates that). Scarab Ringx2 and Flaming Oven Gloves are necessities.

So... I would suggest that you sell off Shiny Shoal Shell Shield, Leaf Shield, and even the Patched Magic Hat. Instead, let's make your set an unconventional one me revolving my suggestions for your weapons around the Earthen Scorchstone.

Add Cloudy Wand of Storms for added earth defence and Scarab Ring for the much needed fire defence as well as physical defence. After which, look into getting 2 strong all-attack constants in the 9-10 icon range. Sell the Makeshift Ships Hammer, Jittery Jipple Potion, Earth Faerie Slingshot, Thief Dagger and Fighting Folder. Get a Steaming Skeem Potion, Ramtors Spellbook and Stone Club, instead. Let the first 2 be your two main constant weapon with the Stone Club being part of your SDB back ups.

Blue Scorchstone
Earthen Scorchtone
Ethereal Sword
Scarab Ring
Cloudy Wand of Storms
Golden Peophin Harp - when you finally get it.
Steaming Skeem Potion
Ramtors Spellbook

Back ups in your SDB:

Second Scarab Ring, Stone Club, Flaming Oven Gloves, Skeletal Fire Gun, one-use muffins and other bombs.

RE: 2 player dual duty set for 20-35 boost?
Thanks for your response to my post Toungue

I am glad you approve of the ethereal sword - because I have found it really useful and had no intention of moving it out of my set for the time being. Also in regards to the scarab ring, I did not deliberately forgo it, in fact I was using it with thief dagger while playing 1-player and it worked exceptionally well. I have about 18 of these in my sdb Toungue But you are right, I had forgotten about the species strengths and weaknesses, so scarab ring would be ideal.

One question I have in regards to your suggestion is the ramtors spellbook. I have never used one in 2-player (actually, my 2-player experience is nil in the grand scheme of things)..but is it not asking to be shut down? light and dark are easily stopped these days. Or is it more of a myth that everyone is equipped with dusty magic brooms etc?

I like the steaming skeem potion, worried it would mainly serve as an 8 icon weapon though.

One more weapon I have is a mighty peophin flute. It does 6 icons methinks (or can do 6 icons of air and physical) while defending 3 air. Would this have any value in my set? It is pretty flimsy, but people say that about a lot of things =) My set surely will be magic in the making heh heh

cheers =)

RE: 2 player dual duty set for 20-35 boost?
I have to admit that to build a set that revolves around the Earthen Scorchstone is really tough. So by the time I get to your second main, and suggested the Ramtors Spellbook, my mind lost its stamina, lol. Toungue

However, Ramtors Spellbook is possibly the strongest 10-iconer that I can think of that falls within your budget. Also, it is very true that the Ramtors Spellbook can be easily shut down, BUT the advantage it has is that it is pretty hard to block with just ONE shield or dual duty (with the exception of Mystical White Cloak, but that is rare enough to not be worrisome). On contrary, alot of the other 9 and 10 iconers can be massively shut down by a single shield; Essence of Esophagor, Stone Club and Ice Club can be shut by Leaf Shield, while Scuzzys Comb can be shut by Thief Dagger.

There is one weapon that could prove to be better than Ramtors Spellbook, and that is the Pike Pike. It's 9 icons instead of 10 though, but if you feel that the 1 icon difference is slight, by all means, get it! Wink

Mighty Peophin Flute is a little too flimsy for the price. Not strong enough for attack and not strong enough for defence. In general, I have to say that species weapons make GREAT anti-stealers, cos you can actually USE it (unlike putting useless junk items that's gonna waste one slot of yours, or putting Purple Sticky Hand and giving your opponents a second chance of stealing. However, I would suggest instead to get the Mighty Peophin Helmet IF you must have a species weapon for that purpose. If not, let your harp be the ONLY species weapon you have.

Hope that helps. Cheers!

Let's take a look at them, shall we? Wink

Ancient Eyrie Battle Mask

The Good Stuff

- Cheaper of the two
- Species weapon. Hence make a great anti-stealer.
- 6 solid mono-icon air. Non-fractional.
- Looks good

The Bad Stuff

- 3 light defence is not to enough completely shut out most light heavy weapons out there.
- Species weapon of a species that has no species healer or freezer as of yet. However, Eyries are resistant to air so that would be one less hard to block icon to worry about.

Ethereal Sword

The Good Stuff

- Solid 5 icons of light defence that is gonna shut out light from a lot of weapons.
- Non-species, so can be used by any species.
- More costly of the two but it is not expensive. In fact, it's a fair deal for what it does.

The Bad Stuff

- The fractional attack makes most battlers shun this. And with good reason. It doesn't even touch the 5 icon mark :?.
- It's not expensive but more costly of the two. In fact, it's a fair deal for what it does.
- Bad art

Between the two, I would choose the Ancient Eyrie Battle Mask. The defence may not be as powerful but it is fairly reasonable. What I really like though is the attack. There's more air in this thing than Wand of Reality and Bow of Destiny, and it cost MUCH less. If you can supplement it with another weapon with a good amount of air, you will have some pretty strong attack Smile
