Can I Please Have Some Help With My Set?

Can I Please Have Some Help With My Set?
My pet is currently quite poor, but I'm increasing its stats at the Training School daily. These are the Stats:

Lvl : 19
Str : 36
Def : 30
Mov : 23
Hp : 38 / 38

It is a lupe and these are its current weapons (a very poor set) and I don't mind getting rid of any to improve my set.

Scarab Ring x 2
The Astronomy Club (I never use it)
Purple Sticky Hand
Greater Healing Scroll
Leaf Shield

I am willing to spend around 500k on my set.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Elliot.

I have just purchased a Snowglobe Staff also, as my freezing item, just to let you know.

Before we start, do you play 1 or 2 player? (And try not to double post, but to use the "edit post" instead)

We can't really help you until we know if you do 1 or two player, and how often you battle as Lupes have a breakable 100% freezer.

Yeah sorry about the double post.
I made the 2nd post, then realised you can edit, so I tried to delete the second post but there was an error message.
I play 1 player.
I would also rather not have an easily breakable item unless they are relatively cheap or rarely break.
I don't battle too often though. Usually just DON fights and a few other random battles. But I'll start to play more once I get a decent set.
Cheers,
Elliot.

RE: Can I Please Have Some Help With My Set?
500k can get you a fairly decent 1-player set nowadays. Smile For attackers, stone club and ice club are buyable 9-iconers, which is great. You already have the snowglobe staff (the best cheap freezer) and the leaf shield (one of the best cheap shields), plus the purple sticky hand (a great little stealer). Blue scorchstone would be a slightly better healer for you right now (it overheals, unlike the scroll), but you can stick with greater healing scroll if you want. Grab a scarab ring, too, because it's a great little dual duty and it's super cheap. You'll also want to stock up on some 12-15-icon one-use bombs -- eventually you'll want a Honey Potion, but those will work for now. You'll also want a Downsize! eventually, but you don't have enough hit points for it to really work well for you right now.

Also, I know you don't want fragile items, but the Ancient Lupe Wand can come in handy for tough DoN battles where you want a guaranteed freeze. My battlepet used to be a lupe, and I always had good luck with them. I used them all the time, although that can get expensive in the long run, so stick with the staff and just keep a couple of wands in the SDB for when you need them.

Stone Club (95kish)
Ice Club (75kish)
Snowglobe Staff (already have); Ancient Lupe Wand (16k) for tough fights
Blue Scorchstone (35k) or Greater Healing Scroll (already have)
Scarab Ring (2k)
Leaf Shield (already have)
Purple Sticky Hand (already have)
Chocolate Chip Battle Biscuit or a good snowball or muffin (like shooting star muffin)
And, for later, Downsize!

Train with the leftover cash, and start saving up for that honey potion.

(If you were doing 2-player, I'd suggest more dual-duties or shields, but in 1-player you're mostly going to be fighting guys much tougher than you (making pure shields less useful) and you'll want those 50% reflectors (depending on the opponent) or things like downsize! instead. That said, I do think you should keep training defense, because you never know when you'll want to get into 2-player battling, and it sucks training it up later, trust me. Wink)

RE: Can I Please Have Some Help With My Set?
Thanks cranberry.
That really helped a lot.

I've bought all but one piece of the lab map now, and once I've finished it, I'll start saving for new items.

Would you recommend any of the EVIL Neoquest prizes e.g. Ramtors Spellbook, Scuzzy's Comb or Halo of Devilpuss, or should I sell my prize when I finish NQ2 instead of putting it in my BD set?

Thanks,
Elliot.

RE: Can I Please Have Some Help With My Set?
SComb and RSB are definitely good to use -- I only suggested the stone and ice clubs because they're buyable 9-iconers, which is excellent for that much power. One extra icon doesn't make much of a difference, damage-wise, and icon types aren't as important in 1-player as in 2-player, so it wouldn't be worth it for you to run out and buy a SComb or RSB. If you win one and like it and want to use it, though, go right ahead. Smile I wouldn't bother with the halo, personally.

Oh! I forgot to mention an interesting newer weapon: Prickly Potion. It attacks with six icons, but uses your opponent's strength boost*, so it's great in 1-player because you'll usually be fighting guys a few strength boosts above you. It's a little expensive right now, so maybe just grab the 9-iconers for now and get one of these a bit later, but it's something to consider.

*In 1-player, anyway, and if you click the go button second in 2-player -- read its ratings for the technical stuff. Smile

RE: Can I Please Have Some Help With My Set?
Cheers Cranberry.
If there is that little difference between SC and RSB, then I'll probably sell my prize and buy a club. (Praying that I don't get Tooth of Terask)
Prickly Potion sounds interesting, but is out of my budget at the moment like you said. That's probably quite a while away for now though, as I'm going to be getting a Honey Potion first.
My pets level is still only 19 and I'm trying to upgrade as much as I can before getting to level 21 so I don't have to buy two codestones for each upgrade. While I'm still at this stage, although it is off-topic for this board, would you be able to tell me as to whether I should upgrade my Movement or not.
I heard that there are some uses to it (could just be a rumour).
I'm not a very experienced BDer as you can tell, and I don't know it's uses so would you recommend upgrading in case a more important aspect of movement is brought in by TNT.
I thought I'd just ask this on this board rather than making a new board.
Thanks again Cranberry.
Elliot.

RE: Can I Please Have Some Help With My Set?
Heavy Robe of Thievery requires a higher movement stat before it will steal (I think it's the only weapon that uses mov, but I could be wrong), but it's not something you really need. I didn't bother training it, myself, because it's just a lot of extra NP for a stat I probably will never use. If you start labbing, the lab will raise mov for you, so you don't need to worry about it. (If you start labbing, though, remember to train level and defence using codestones at the same time, to keep your pet balanced. Some days this will seem frustrating or useless, as you'll train a couple defence and then the lab will zap them away, but you're getting so much free HP and strength (and mov) that it more than makes up for having to retrain a few stats -- you only have to train two stats instead of four (or five, if you count mov), so it's worth it!)
