RE: Any photographers here?
Depends on what you consider photography. I only have an ancient Canon Powershot G2 digital, and 340MB Microdrive card. Every time I try and save up for a better camera, stuff happens. Usually either the house or the car.

Yeah... define photographer Toungue

I've just dawdled mainly.. with an ancient manual camera.. 35mm... it is so old that it doesn't even have the name on it anymore.. so yeah.. or it could just be from use... hehe.

Would a 20 year old Polaroid Spirit count? Big Grin
(I still use it, though the flash part was originally disposable, so i can't buy any more flash bulbs..)

Otherwise, on the opposite end of the scale, i've got a Nikon D70s, with a 28-200 (i think) sigma lens, though i'm kinda looking out for a better lens at the moment..
Anyone got any suggestions on any good Nikon lenses?

Joe - How's that 18-200 Nikkor lens? I've heard good things about it!

RE: Any photographers here?
Photographer would just be someone who takes photography serious and enjoys doing it Toungue

jussy, the 18-200 is probably the best thing that ever happened to me. You have to watch out for it in stock/for a good price. I got mine for only $750, but I was on a waiting list for a few weeks.
The ability of not having to swap lenses out all the time (or even some of the time for that matter!) is just amazing. The only thing that COULD be better is the f-stop, but who cares?! As long as you aren't shooting in pitch black, you should be fine because the VR makes up for it even in dim light (the VR is very good as well). Oh, and if I want dark areas then I just use the 80-200.. although it is a slower focusing lense overall.

I've been slowly looking to upgrade my camera. Mainly; retire the one I have and get a new one. Any suggestions on decent film cameras. Which do you like better; digital or film? I prefer film over digital; mainly because I like developing my own film.

RE: Any photographers here?
Well other than my F3 an F4, I have little experience with film cameras (except for using my friends' Canons or maybe a new/older Nikon every once in a while). I've developed many rolls of film from my F3, however.
With digital, I also don't have a wide range of experience with different cameras.  I've used many point-and-shoots and a few different DSLRs "in-depthly".
I think I like digital so much because you can just take as many shots as you want and then view them instantly.  Film also has its benefits.  At first, I really enjoyed developing my film and then making prints, but after a while it seems to just get boring and tedious.  So, if I had to recommend something, I'd probaby say that if you enjoy film you should get it for planned shots or nothing that requires much action - like shooting plants or maybe animals.. taking shots in the city/of buildings. If you want to take sport pictures or of children player - or in environments with tricky exposures (bracketing), I'd say digital might be your best bet.
You also have to make sure you have access to a lab to develop your film! After high school, I'm not sure what I would use... would have to hope their would be one near by/for cheap...
If you want, you could get an F3 - it is an amazing and landmark camera.  Everything is so solid, you get a really solid feel when olding it and since it is a professional camera, it is and won't break and can withstand rough conditions and continuouse.  You might have to be careful when buying used equipment, however - make sure the seller is reputable and you know what you are looking for when you are looking to buy one.
The F4 isn't mainly my camera, so I don't use it as much, but is it also a really solid camera.  It is Nikon, afterall, so there's nothing to fear.
Also, if I were you, I'd try to stay constant with a specific brand.  I started with Nikon and ever since have bought Nikon-compatible lenses.  The cool thing is that now, with my DX Nikon, the lens still work!

I love photography Smile
My camera was borrowed by a friend and lost in Missouri, so I am currently camera-less Sad
