Yooyuball hints
I simply cannot play this game. It must be my hand/eye, my mouse, whatever, but I am lucky if I can score at all. I've been practising for days and am still hopeless. I was just as bad last year.
Anyone brave enough to give some sensible hints on how to win a few games? |

RE: Yooyuball hints
Seeing as I was offline for the entire event last year I could use some tips too.
So far, I've heard that passing is a key to victory, and there seems to be some truth to that, since passes move faster than characters. The best way I've found to win is to score the first goal and then head into a corner until the clock runs out. But hopefully someone else here has better advice "Siggy? whats the real name of the item? *sigh* im new to this whole battledome items....so, sorry! " |

RE: Yooyuball hints
There's generally no need for passing, seeing as straight after you get the ball you should just go ahead and score. Your players outspeed your opponents, which means you can easily "dribble" around them and set up a shooting angle.
I'm not too sure about this, but I believe scoring more goals = more points. That's the general consensus anyway. And I've found that heading for a corner after scoring still has a chance of losing the ball and as a result, a goal. For Regular/Fire/Ice/Clockwork/Mutant, fire across the keeper. (i.e. when you're in line with one corner, shoot towards the opposite one) Feel free to take potshots with Fire, the speed means you'll score from halfway with ease. Ice/Clockwork should be launched closer to the keeper, they're agonizingly slow. Clockwork will also blow itself up after a short while, so scoring with it should be done quickly, if at all. Mutant can curve the other way, but 2/3 of the time shooting across the keeper works. For Faerie, be in line with the centre of the goal and fire straight. It'll curve around the keeper and into the corner. Darigan... *groan* I'm not too sure how to describe this, but the direction you're facing in and the direction the Yooyu goes in are the equivalents of a light ray and its reflected ray, with the normal being a line drawn horizontally. Bad description, I know. Anyway, I can't really give tips for this one, but my personal method is drawing the keeper to one corner, then taking it to the opposite corner as quickly as possible, where there'll hopefully be a slight gap for me to slot the Yooyu in. The best I can come up with, meh. *waits for obi to come up with better advice* ![]() <3 Sigh_Driven |

RE: Yooyuball hints
Well, from what I remember, your final points were based on how many goals you scored rather than how many wins (meaning that scoring only one goal a game isn't the most time-effective way of earning points). However, if you're happy with one point per game (which is fine), that's fine too. Basic tips (other people no doubt have better ones, but other people haven't posted yet
) :If you start out with a ball you know you play poorly with (most likely Darigan, Faerie, or Mutant), I'd suggest restarting the game. No sense wasting so much time when it wouldn't cost you much to just try again. Fire is probably the easiest to score with, as it moves fastest. Come at the goal from an angle and aim for the far corner (poor way of explaining it, sorry), and you should get it in every time. Normal and Ice can be scored the same way, but are slightly harder to succeed with as they move slower. 9 goals is the absolute maximum anyone has managed to get. After 9, the opponent's goalie starts moving very quickly, making it impossible to score. Once you hit 9, just dribble out the clock (or, preferrably, pass the Yooyu off to your goalie and bounce the ball against the wall). During the parts before each round where the Yooyu is coming out, you can hit the spacebar to skip straight to the match. It's useful if you're getting bored out of your skull. Hit 'Shift' to make all your players return to their starting positions. This is something I found myself doing on occasion, when I really didn't have the patience to try to score with the harder balls. If you get an annoying Yooyu, just score on yourself and keep playing. You'll get to 9 goals (the game limit) much faster - but there's a chance it'll negatively affect your score, so I wouldn't just blindly take this tip if I were you. -4˛ = -16 My name's Jasmine, but if you want to call me by my username, remember that it has three e's... |

RE: Yooyuball hints
Actually, it is possible to score past 9, with a lot of luck. I've done it myself using a complicated process involving stationing a player right in front of a corner, robbing a defender at the opposite corner, quickly passing it to my attacker and slotting it in. With a Fire Yooyu, of course. I've seen people claiming to have hit 11, a bit far-fetched in my opinion though. Unfortunately, apparently points only count up to the 9th goal, so scoring further is pointless, outside of bragging rights, heh.

WOAH
Maybe I'm the first one (maybe not), but I just discovered the "Tab" button. When you press it, you automatically control the player closes to the ball. *Actually.. It just seems to be switching to the next player

RE: Yooyuball hints
thanks everyone. I found by changing computers and trying the above, I improved. My problem was that I couldn't change players fast enough once the other team got the ball and they would score. Must be a mouse/flash/something setting that I can't change (running XP Japanese which has a higher overhead). Now my problem is no time today to play - timezones suck...
thanks again. yuki |

RE: Yooyuball hints
Pressing the spacebar deselects the currently selected player.

RE: Yooyuball hints
-if you run into an opponent directly who has the ball, you will get the ball. I would suggest running into an opponent, and then the split second after turning and streaking toward the goal
-scoring a goal and then playing keep-away doesn't help your team much. you want to score lots of goals. -when you get the faerie ball, go directly at the goalkeeper, straight on, and then shoot. it will go right around him. -I play a 2-2 defence, left to right, and it works great for me. I control the bottom guy when going for the ball. if you get the ball, go straight through the middle, towards the top of the goal, and then aim for the bottom corner and shoot. if you don't get the ball, immediately send your guy up the screen, because if they get it and pass to the other forward, he will shoot it. this way, you can intercept the ball. if they get it and pass it to a defenceman, go toward the defenceman, steal it, and score!! |

RE: Yooyuball hints
matt_hui_ck Wrote:I'm not too sure about this, but I believe scoring more goals = more points. That's the general consensus anyway. Sort of. It's in the rules: Quote:Your contribution to your team's standings depends upon how well you play Yooyuball, with the calculation being based on the goal deficit for each game you play. If, for example, you send a winning score of 4 - 2, you will contribute 2 Yooyuball points to your team's daily score. If you send a winning score of 8 - 0, you will contribute 8 Yooyuball points to your team's daily score. Draws and losing scores are counted as zero Yooyuball points, so you definitely want to try to win. So a 2-0 win and a 4-2 win get the same amount of points for your team. "Tact is just not saying true stuff. I'll pass." |
