RoTL+?? (less than 3mil) or GS+BOD/WOR?
Pet stats:
Species : Kacheek Level : 100 Health : 220 / 220 Strength : ULTIMATE (201) Defence : ULTIMATE (200) Move : EXCELLENT (49) Intelligence : ULTIMATE GENIUS (139) Current set: Bow of Destiny Wand of Reality Ring of the Lost Kacheek Life Potion Ghostkerbomb Freezing Potion Downsize! Patched Magic Hat/Leaf Shield/Earthen Scortchstone (alternate depending on opponent) Doing mostly 1P but occassionaly 2P. Have another 3mil to spend for potential upgrade. Currently when I'm not going all out attack, I use RoTL with one of the defensive weapons. So the question is: Whether I should spend the money to get something better to use with RoTL, or replace RoTL with Ghostkershield and use it with BOD or WOR in that situation? Or I'm better off leave the combination as is, and spend the 3 mil elsewhere? Thanks in advance. |

Keep the RotL. It's Better for 1-p than g-Shield. I'd just TRAIN And save for a Sword of Skardsen... or, if you want to make an intermediate stop, Werelupe Claw Necklace. Seriously, you have a better set than I have on my 250 boost pet.

obiwanpi Wrote:Keep the RotL. Another thought: RotL's value is going to continue to rise, whereas G-Shield's won't (short of it being retired, in which case both will drastically inflate). On this ground, I'm going to recommend the RotL. You're still a long ways from the point where G-Shield would be worthwhile in One Player. On the note of your set, I dislike the WoR/BoD combo, in One or Two Player. Creating an icon diversity makes it more probable that something, somewhere will end up blocked. In Two Player, G-Shield takes 9 off of the Wand (11 off of two Wands) and Tabard takes 6 off of the Wand (and 8 off of two). G-Shield takes 8 off of the Bow (not gaining anymore against two Bows), and Tabard takes 9 off the Bow (and 11 off of two). Given that G-Shield is more common, and that the Bow blasts through Sink, I'd recommend swapping your Wand for another Bow. (Granted, the Tabard will hurt if you see it.) Neither is really superior to the other in One Player (given that it depends on the opponent), and running both just increases your chances of having something blocked. As far as Obiwan's mention about the Necklace and SoS, the latter will be crushed in Two Player, and the former will be crushed in One Player (due to icon variety). I'm also going to echo him slightly: you're running a stronger set than I am on my 550 Strength Boost Pet, .

RE: RoTL+?? (less than 3mil) or GS+BOD/WOR?
Thanks for the advice. Kind of along the line of what I was thinking since in terms of defense, GS is not too much an upgrade from RoTL + some good shield (e.g. Patched Magic Hat). With my defense level, the strong 1P opponents can take me out with one blow if I only rely on the defensive weapons.
With that said, anyone has an opinion if I upgrade to RoTL + PCH so when I'm out of power at least I can take a chance defending without burrow or sink? |

Going for the better offensive weapons is a better use of the NPs.

Keep the RotL, even if only for investment purposes. Just don't do what I did and let your set turn into more of a long term investment rather then a practical battling collection. >_>;;
GShield will influence it's max price, but I'd bet my left hand it will end up costing more then it in the end. silverwing Wrote:With that said, anyone has an opinion if I upgrade to RoTL + PCH so when I'm out of power at least I can take a chance defending without burrow or sink?I detest Pirate Captains Hat in One Player. It's powerful, yes, but in any progressive battle (maxing out) it's going to ultimately fall shorter and shorter of the end of the fight. It's fine for DoN missions and the like, but you can find Light defense in Shadow Shield (roughly 1.6 mil) and Earth defense in Illusens Silver Shield (I spent 2.1 on mine, though someone was selling for 1.7 a day later. Post is currently saying 2 even). I know it's not "as good," in the sense that it's not hitting both, but PCH is only situationally useful anyway. It's really a tossup over what icon you want to go for blocking (I'd go Earth over Light, due to the Peas, and there's a distinct lack of hard-hitting Light weapons anyway). Personally, I find quite a bit of use out of Yooyuball Player Sling (Physical blocking plus the 3 Light and Dark for damage), but I don't know what the inflation is doing to it. (I picked up mine several months ago at 2.3, but there have been inflated prices as high as 4, and there's only one on the Post right now.) Dual WoR or Dual BoD is vastly superior to WoR+BoD, as each weapon has decent icon types by itself and diversifying them further does little except allow GShield / FTabard to block more icons, while doubling up on them adds icons to overrun those big shields. The math works out so that dual BoDs are better vs G-shield, but dual WoRs are better against F-Tabard; dual WoRs are better against G-Shield + Tabard combined. And dualing *EITHER* is better than the hybrid against ALL of those. "Siggy? whats the real name of the item? *sigh* im new to this whole battledome items....so, sorry! " |

RE: RoTL+?? (less than 3mil) or GS+BOD/WOR?
Thanks. I guess I'll go shopping for another bow.
Since appreciation of value has been mentioned several times here, what do you think if I keep the wand in SDB as an investment, instead of selling it? If a remember right, both the bow and the wand has appreciated a little bit since ToW plot. |

If a remember right, both the bow and the wand has appreciated a little bit since ToW plot.Which is odd, given that ToW ended. On the one hand, I'm inclined to say that the lack of value in the Evil Prizes is a disincentive to playing through to Insane. If less are really entering the economy, though, the trend should be occurring with the Sword of Apocalypse and Staff of Righteous Fury as well, but I haven't followed the price trends on either of those. Given that they can enter the economy, I don't really see it as a suitable investment. It seems very unlikely that they'll retire (given the niche they're filling), and even though there always has been room for inflation it's taken until now for anything to actually happen. I also vaguely recall purchasing them a year or more ago, and seeing several that were trying (and at the time, failing) to go for 3.5-3.6. There is always the possibility as well that demand has finally exceeded the supply, but someone would have to look into the Guild Wars and such to know whether that possibility should be given any credibility (then again, a lot of people have said that RotLs inflated as a direct result of Guild Wars). I don't give the giuld wars theories much credit. In my opinion, Ring of the Lost Infladed because they're retired, and retired weapons do that over time. Realisically, no more than a couple hundred people are involved in them, most of them don't have extra NPs sticking around to make an upgrade JUST for the war (they would have done it earlier if they had the NPs), and not all who do buy the same weapons. Plus, giuld wars are basically always happening, so they're a constant factor in the economy instead of a cause of change. Even if there's alot going on at once for a time, the inflation won't be much and won't last long. A more intruiging theory on the cause of recent inflation of Bow of Destiny And Wand of Reality is this: the Tale of Woe Plot. But isn't the ToW over, you ask? well, that's actually the point. The fact that battling counted for points in the ToW got a new crop of people into the battledome. This crop is rather large, although in many ways confused. They are likely to either not understand how essential having a strong pet is, and only care about weapons, not realizing that my 250 boost pet would do better with a scarab ring than thier 35 boost lab rat would with a Sword Of Skardsen, or they realize these facts, but still get impatient with training and upgrade thier set sooner than they can really afford to, because they're desparate to increase thier max damage. It's the latter group that I'm concerned with right now. It's been almost 6 months sience the battling in the ToW, and if someoe started evenly training thier stats (HP, STR, DEF) then (at MI), I'm pretty sure they'd be reaching the 126 boost right about now. (Earlier if they didn't train defense). Despairing that they have 75 strength to go to the next boost, (or feeling like they should be getting a boost by now, but haven't for the non-defense trainers), they ditch thuer 9-iconers, and go out and buy 13-iconers- Bow of Destiny and Wand of Reality. Hence, these weapons have recently deflated. They'll go down some soon, but I don't think we'll be seeing them at 3.1 mil again for quite a while. I'm certainly not confident enough in thier continued long term inflation to consider them a good investment, though. I would not be surprised (although not certian, either... among other potential things which would prevent this including the possibility I'm just plain wrong, the RS machine might decide that Freezing Potion should be one of those items that it likes to have RS more often than it should at it's rarity for a while... like it did with Bony Grarrl Club or any number of album items I could name...) if we saw a similar fit of inflation of Freezing Potion and H4000 Helmet, the cheapest 100% freezers in a few of months, when they discover how slow codestone training is starting to get when they hit the 200 boost... although the hidden tower weapons, which would be some of thier next upgrages after the freezer, will be protected from inflation by virtue of the fact that fyora is unlikely to reprice them... Not anything predictable enough that I'd make investments based on it, but a facinating prospect.
