Virus problems
Hi recently i was using my pc and i finded a downloader of the videos of youtube. It was a virus and it did the next things to my pc:
-changed teh start menu -on my pc i cant find teh C:/ disk -auto-installed 3 ¨antivirus¨ that sends annoyings messages to me, the three requiring that i have to get the pay version (also changed my time to ??:?? VIRUS ALERT) At the first two days i tried to delete it with my Nod32 2.5 paired with Ad-aware, but it didnt worked. i tried with Kaspersky/Ad-aware now and isnt working. Next the things that the three finded: Nod32: When i try to download the ¨äntivirus¨ recognizes them as viruses an blocks them Ad-aware: 3 Critical Objects and 7-17 Negligble Objects (ALWAYS) Kaspersky: 7 trojans (The first time, then none) So i guess if you can help me with this problem. thanks ![]() PD: i t would be great if i can get my old start menu (teh one before the incident) and delete the antivirus What's the worst that I can say? Things are better if I stay! So long and goodnight, So long and goodnight! |

RE: Virus problems
You may have to boot up in safe mode to remove the virus. To be in safe mode, push F8 when you turn your computer on. When you are in safe mode, run your anti-virus, ad-aware, and spybot to try to get rid of the viruses. Reboot and hope that everything is fine.
If that doesn't work, try to perform a system restore back to before you installed the program. Hopefully, that works. You'll have to explain more about the changed start menu because it will be hard to see what's the exact problem.

RE: Virus problems
Avast is an antivirus with a very good reputation. If going into safemode with your current software doesn't work, try getting a hold of avast (its free) and use that in a safemode. Also it would be nice if you could give us filenames and such. You can always search for solutions on various websites..

RE: Virus problems
avast also has a boot-time scan. once you install it, it gives you the option to do so. boot-time scan is the best, since it doesn't give the virus a chance to cloak itself.
firefox has an extension for downloading youtube videos. it's much safer. I like pie |

RE: Virus problems
I had to edit completely this post.
I downloaded avast!, then in safe mode i performed a boot-in scan. the viruses and ¨antiviruses¨ disapeared. but those were the half of the problems here. the virus messed up my session. the start menu lacks of the ¨all programs¨ and ¨close session¨ options. i cant change the screen options because ¨the sistem admin disabled screen in control panel¨ on ¨my pc¨ i cant see the C:/ disk and im sure other thing is missing. now the time of my pc is ??:?? VIRUS ALERT! also on the desk 3 icons dissapeared. i will add images of all those things soon, when i can. thanks for your help What's the worst that I can say? Things are better if I stay! RE: Virus problems
Reinstall Windows and select upgrade (instead of new install).

RE: Virus problems
Bring up run (windows key + R) and type in: D:\SETUP.EXE
Replace D:\ with the appropriate drive, of course. ![]() My sig no longer requires a spoiler, yay! |
