Which Weapon to Choose

Which Weapon to Choose
I need a backup weapon for my set and I need suggestions on which weapon to choose:

1. Sword of the Dead -est95k
2. Ethereal Sword - est200k
3. Amulet of Inevitable Betrayal - est100k
4. Thief Dagger - est25k

I'm leaning towards Sword of the Dead. But AoIB is a close second. I dont know why some people suggested ES over SoTD?? SoTD does more icons and the exact same defence but costs over 100k more. Am i missing something? AoIB looks nice, because of the attack, and would be better than SotD if i ran into GC, PFF, etc etc because i would be doing more damage, but again, it only blocks 3 light (SC?) The thief Dagger looks good because of the price, but a closer look makes it yuck due to Scarab Ring. =s So what are your opinions?

Eh, it'll depend on the rest of your set. Mind telling us your whole set?

I'm not a fan of non-100% freezers or dual-duties.

Either Etheral Sword or Thief Dagger IMO(Based solely on these weapons).

But I need more set information to make an informed descision.

RE: Which Weapon to Choose
Why Ethereal Sword over Sword of the Dead though? Ethereal is 4.65 wind, while SotD is 2.65 wind 3 dark. Both defend 5 light. With SotD i'd be taking 5 from scuzzys and giving out 5.65 while with ES i'd be recieving 5 and giving 4.65?? What's the point of that? Plus it's OVER 100k more. Am i reading the stats wrong?

RE: Which Weapon to Choose
I would go for Sword of the Dead if I were you. Thief Dagger is too expensive for what it does, so rule that off the list first. Amulet of Inevitable Betrayal only blocks 3 light, so against heavy light attackers like Staff of Righteous Fury and Sword of Apocalypse, it's not going to do as much as Sword of the Dead or Ethereal Sword. Including the price tag, Sword of the Dead would be best.

I'm not a fan of non-100% freezers or dual-duties.

The Dark icons of Sword of the Dead are easily knocked by Golden Compass, which is probably the most common Two Player weapon around right now. Ethereal Sword is also doing mono-Air, which is probably only going to be knocked by Burrow.

I'm a tad up in the air as far as Thief Dagger goes. The Light and Physical are common enough (except against dual-Golden Compass) that you could probably easily fill the defense, but I think the Physical is likely enough to be knocked off of it, making its usefulness debatable.

I dislike the sheer variety on Amulet of Inevitable Betrayal. The Dark will probably be knocked, reducing it to a net eight-iconer, which compared to Thief Dagger is one short (I'm going to credit the Thief Dagger at averaging nine net icons). Ethereal Sword would average nine-point-six-five, with its situationality being against Scuzzys Comb and Ramtors Spellbook, whereas Thief Dagger could hit Golden Compass and Psellias Fighting Fan. And head-on against Scuzzys, Thief Dagger would fare better than Ethereal Sword.

I think I'm going to recommend Thief Dagger. I can't perfectly recall your range, though, and if the Spellbooks are common enough Ethereal Sword would probably do better.

Edit: A lot got posted while I was posting. What's your Strength Boost again? If it's 55, I might recommend Ethereal Sword more. Either way, once you start battling, you'll be able to figure out which weapons are more common and either upgrade Thief Dagger to Ethereal Sword, or go the opposite way, depending on which you pick up.

I agree.

The reason people suggest Ethereal sword is simple. It's all air icons, no dark. Air is hard to block, period. You don't have problems with a Compass either.

Since you have a Golden Compass, I suggest Thief Dagger. It's the weapon that comes out the most ahead of a Comb/Sorf. It's also the cheapest. You can use your Compass to kill a RSB, then use the Thief Dagger to kill Combs/Sorf. Also if your opponent doesn't happen to do light on that turn, instead of only doing 5 icons or so, you still have a chance to partially block some of his attack, because physical is quite common.

Besides, how many people do you think will run a Comb/SoRF and scarab ring together as thier main attackers? Not many. Besides, if they do pull out the scarab ring, unless they have dual Comb/SoRF Compass + Thief Dagger will kill thier combo anyway.

Edit: alot was posted while I was posting too.

Shattered: I figured that since he had dual Compass it would be better to use those against a RSB as they are also his main attackers and he can't get tricked up if his opponent switches to a non-light weapon

And d-fense: You might want to edit your posts next time instead of doubble posting (just put Edit: like I did) because that sometimes makes the mods mad

I don't like shields and non-100% freezers...

Challenge Swift_Rev14_6 if you are a 55 boost pet lookin for a fight (no 100% freeze ofcourse)

BTW, 2p FTW!
