RE: Create a Neopet?
If you want to keep your pet a lupe, don't use the lab ray. In my experience, it has changed my Silvak's species roughly once every 20 zaps (5.24% to be exact in 764 zaps). If you don't care about the species in the long run, the lab will give you lots of hits points and decent amounts of strength and agility while taking away lots of levels and either taking away or slightly increasing defense.

I've found at least once daily training with the lab ray is necessary to keep stats from getting too spread out.

"We should be careful to get out of an experience only the wisdom that is in it and stop there; lest we be like the cat that sits down on a hot stove-lid. She will never sit down on a hot stove-lid again and that is well; but also she will never sit down on a cold one any more."

I've never seen it decrease HP on Silvak or with my labbing on my foster pet account.
