Flotsam?

Hi everyone, I just joined IDB. I've been off and on Neopets for a long time and now I feel like starting over. I picked a Flotsam as my pet, no idea why, maybe it looks great painted as a mutant. Can someone help me on what stats to raise and what equips I need as a newbie to the battledome? I have more or less 400k.

Training

The sky is the limit here; nps spent on training is never wasted. I would get the 20 boosts in both strength and defence and then go from there (you know what a boost is right?). I assume that your level is very low so start by using Dubloons at the school on Krawk Island.

Set Advice

It really depends on whether you plan to do 1-player or 2-player but here is a basic set:

• Cloudy Wand of Storms
• Frozen Wand of Crystals
• Lesser Healing Scroll and then up to Greater Healing Scroll
• Downsize!
• Purple Sticky Hand
• Snowglobe Staff and then upgrade to Black Frost Cannon
• Leaf Shield or if you are doing 1-player an appropriate reflector
• Scarab Ring
  

This is somewhat a defence heavy set; I like defence. If you decide not to go with keeping strength and defence even you could consider weapons like Scuzzys Comb.

Which ones should I replace?

Can you please elaborate on "boosts"?

Boosts - Stregth and Defense boosts come at certain stat levels:

1-7 0.5
8-12 0.75
13-19 1.0
20-34 1.25
35-54 1.5
55-84 2.0
85-125 2.5
125-199 3.0
200-249 4.5
250-299 5.5
300-349 6.5
350-399 7.5
400-449 8.5
450-499 9.5
500-549 11.0
550-599 12.0
600-649 13.0
650-699 14.0
700 15.0

As far as weapons you could replace your Bone Seceptre with either a Frozen Wand of Crystals (7.6 Icons)(+/-100K) or Golden Compass (9 Icons)(+/-150K) both are dual duty (attack and defend) & would complement your Scarab Ring and your Patched Magic Hat nicely. Just depends on how much you want to spend.

I'm waiting for someone to auction off a Golden Compass for less than 150k. Should I replace my Patched Magic Hat with Downsize? Should I replace one Scarab ring with a Purple Sticky Hand or a Snowglobe Staff?

mrk, replace the Scarab Stone Slingshot maybe with a strong constant, like a scuzzys comb or a pike pike.
