Advice on weapons gap
Hi, I'm new to the battledome and I have a pet who has about ~52HP, ~46 strength, and 44 defence. I am continuing to train these stats. The problem is, I also want to train quickly yet I don't want my weapons to fall too far behind when compared to my stats since I like 2p. My current set is: ice club, golden compass, dusty magic broom, honey potion, greater healing scroll, downsize!, slippery floor potion, and potion of concealment.

What would be a good next upgrade? I need a freezer since I get freeze bombed and die in one hit, but doing that would make a large dent in my wallet. It would also imbalance my set since I would have a 6mil freezer and comparatively cheap weapons. I would much rather upgrade my weapons to those 13 iconers or mask of coltzan for 1/2 the price, but then doing so would still not change getting freeze bombed. Should I go for the freezer first and then shore up the rest of my set which is weak, or should I buff up the rest first and worry about freeze later? At what stats do the majority of opponents freeze?

I have about 1.5m + 700k in stocks currently and I make ~200 or 300k a day. RaiseeyebrowRaiseeyebrowRaiseeyebrowRaiseeyebrowRaiseeyebrowRaiseeyebrow

RE: Advice on weapons gap
Two Player battling is a tough scene, and I'm not the best person to be giving advice on it.

Slippery Floor Potion and Potion of Concealment are interesting, but what do they stop? Concealment hits Honey Potion, but what else is running high Water, Fire, or Earth? Both Burrow and Sink cover the Water and Fire, so it makes the Slippery Floor Potion look somewhat worthless, in my eyes. Apparently they're cheap enough it doesn't matter, but that's two spots in your set being taken up each battle.

If you're already getting his with Freezers, then you're just going to see more as you keep going. I'm surprised to hear that Freezers are being used in battles that low-end given their price, but the tough fact is that there's nothing quite like a guaranteed Freeze. Without an accurate percentage of knowing whether Snowglobe Staff or Black Frost Cannon (only a hundred tests logged with the Cannon, as opposed to a thousand with the Staff) is more likely to give a Freeze, it's difficult to suggest either. Getting one and comboing it with Fiery Gaze might be your best bet to try to match your Opponent's Freezing you around 40% of the time, but that's going to cost you from using either Burrow or Sink later in the fight.

There's just nothing quite like a guaranteed Freeze. So long as you're doing Two Player, that's always going to be an issue. Whether it's worth six mil is a question you need to ask yourself. Right now you clearly can't afford it.

Oh, and hang onto those Stocks regardless. They'll make you more money by hanging onto them than selling them, even if they'll cover a purchase for your set upgrade.

Mask of Coltzan's a great dual-duty, but it's not what it used to be. Ring of the Lost are selling for just a bit more, and serve just a bit better.

The issue I've always had with Two Player is that even though there are so many dual-duties, most of the standard attacking weapons are simply better in the end. (Mind you, it's been a very long time since I played someone in Two Player that ran dual-duties or any defense that really knew what they were doing, and the last one I can remember had a Defense Boost on me. At equal Boosts, in my mind, dual-duties just don't cut it.)

One thing to keep in mind, though it applies less in Two Player than it does in One Player: you always need time to raise your stats, but your weapons only require money. With Two Player, there are always people running more powerful weapons on weaker Pets. No matter how much you try to strengthen your set, there will always be someone who has stronger weapons that can still break you down simply for that reason. You may just want to worry about your stats for the time being, especially since you're so close to the 55 Boosts.

If I sounded overly anti-Two Player, I didn't mean to, and I hope I've offered a bit of help. Good luck with figuring out an idea for your set. The Freezer is probably the best way to go.

RE: Advice on weapons gap
First Keep Right On Training

Secondly, if you do 2 player, you have 3 options

A> Get a freezer
B> Only fight "no-freeze" matches
C> Lose.

Sadly, that's about it. Whatever you may think about a "balanced set" is based on sorely mistaken premises. Let's consider you pet fighting a mirror match, so we have 2 opponents with the 35 str and defense boosts and 52 hit points. Your pet has a Bow of Destiny and a Mask of Coltzan, a nd all the weapons you have now. Your opponent has everything you have now and an H4k

Round 1: you use BoD + MoC + Aisha Sneak
your opponent uses H4k + Golden Compass + Aisha Sneak

You deal 26 unblocked icons (assuming your species ability does 5 icons at your current level), for 39 damage. Your opponet deals 11 unblocked icons, for 16 damage.

Round 2, you're frozen, your opponent uses Honey Potion + Golden Compass x Fierce Attack. If the honey potion deals minimum damage, that's 22.3 unblocked icons x 1.4 x 1.5 or 46.83 hit points.

You've lost, and you only got one round.

And the fun part is, as you get higher in level the gap between freeze and non-freeze widens even more, as pets have Berserk and weapons which deal more icons. There is no point in the entire battledome where two pets following the optimal training path of even Str=Def=Hit Points need to deal more than 52 unblocked, unhealed icons to each other to win. That means Berserk with 36 icons during a freeze is an auto win, and even a pair of 15 icon muffins is almost an auto win.

Now since the price of a freezer is an issue for you (and altogether too many other folks), you should probably consider morphing into a species with a cheaper freezer. Entangling Lenny Lasso is a lot cheaper than h4k, but Icy Chia Googles and Golden Peophin Harp can also save you over a million neopoints.

"Siggy? whats the real name of the item? *sigh* im new to this whole battledome items....so, sorry! "

RE: Advice on weapons gap
First, it sounds a little like you'd like to have your cake and eat it too ;-D. Obviously it's a compromise between weapons and training. Given where you are at the the moment, if you plan on continuing in the game, I'd advise concentrating on TRAINING, and let the weapons lag a bit. A well trained pet with a Sparkshooter is more dangerous than a poorly trained one with a Sword of Skardsen. You're off to a good start, you have reasonably balanced stats and you're going to start hitting another boost soon for both offense and defense.
A 6 mil. np freezer isn't of huge use if you don't have a first rate one/two offense to hit a frozen opponent with. The Honey Potion is a fine bomb, but it's really just the minimum if you've coughed up 6 mil for a freezer, and you don't have anything in your set to pair it with. You could go with a muffin as a second killer weapon, but this isn't cost effective, and will soon lead you to other problems. The 6 mil. freezer, the Honey Potion, the Muffin, and most likely your healer too are all "once per battle" and as your stats go up, your battles tend to last longer, and you'll be both limited and predictable with what little you have left.
I also don't like the Slippery Floor Potion for where you are in the game. I like it as a weapon, it's cheap, unique and has GREAT situational value, but it's kind of like having a refridge with six kinds of ketchup and four kinds of mustard, but no bread and no meat. Nice accessory to have, but you need to take care of basics first. Both it and the Potion of Concealment are single use items. If you're going to blow a bunch of nps on a single use item, do it on a single use freezer for IMPORTANT battles only. I don't recommend this approach for regular battling, as it's NOT cost effective, and it hinders your building of a good battleset, though for an IMPORTANT battle it would help. You still need a better attacker to pair with the Honey Potion though to get full use out of it.
For the kind of set you're trying to build, a Scarab Ring would make a lot more sense than one of the single use items - 6 icon attack, fire and physical defense for another 6 icons, multiuse and cheap.
Stocks go up and down and as there are no fundamentals to base a view on here, they're just a crapshoot.
Personally, I'd look for cheap and useful items to upgrade my battleset with, though I'd tend to shy away from the big splash acquisitions at the moment (the 6 mil freezer, Sword of Skardsen, etc.), and train strength and defense in particular. I'd also do my dailies, and kitchen quests when they're inexpensive. The key thing to remember is that ANY great weapon upgrades ONE slot of your lineup. Increased training boosts upgrade ALL slots, and can help with your species and faerie abilities as well.
At present you have no useless, foolish weapons. However, you also have no weapons that would scare me either. I know you'd like to have a great battleset and a strong pet immediately, but it's a slow processs, and I think at the moment, beefing up your pet's stats is the best move. Upgrade slowly, but inexpensively with items that you'll have for awhile. Soon you'll be outgrowing your healer, and that'll be another massive need. For the short-term, a poor investment, but powerful for the price is Scuzzys Comb which is cheap for its power and won't break your wallet. A Winged Scarab might be of appeal to you as well. Both will have a bit of shelf life in your battleset as both can still be of at least situational use well into intermediate fighting. The same is true of the Scarab Ring. Given your abilty to make nps, a Black Frost Cannon would put you in a more normalized situation for where you are now and give you some freezing capability, though obviously not a 100% freezer, nor anything close to it. But at the moment - TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN!!!

You can pretend to care, but you can't pretend to BE THERE!

RE: Advice on weapons gap
e4e5Nf3Nc6Bb5, I think that you just need not to stress. You make a big chunk of nps daily so you can wait and buy a freeezer.

Then as the rest training is a nice idea, i would say to train just to the next boost 55 and get 75 hp. Then get a 100% freezer and start fixing goals to upgrade your battlegear.

If you pick the specie's freezer path firts get the freezer then transform your pet.

RE: Advice on weapons gap
Thanks for the advice everyone SmileSmile I guess I'll just train and not worry about weapons too much

However, it appears I got my problem solved when the shopkeeper of the trading card shop OWNED me by ripping me off 1.4mil. Guess that's how they make all their money.

Although potion of concealment and slippery floor potion are very useful from my experience, the small advantage they give may not be neccessary considering that I have to replace them often. What weapons would be good in their place? Raiseeyebrow
