Hi Everyone,
Before I ask, first let me thank all of you who take time to post articles, answer questions, and run the web site. I've been lurking for a while, and its been very helpful. So, here's my pet, Isnt_it the blue Eyrie Level : 117 Health : 240 / 233 Strength : 225 Defence : 222 Move : 202 Intelligence : 550 I've been training with codestones, and keeping balanced, except I've stopped agility after 200 (still got a quest since then), and I generally work on HP at bit at the codestone "borders" to save some cost - then I have to run up my level, then train strength & def to catch up. I haven't yet done two player battles, but plan to start soon. My set is: Wand of Reality, Scuzzy's comb, Leaf shield, Immense Rubber ax of Doom, Scarab Ring, & a blue scortchstone (and I usually have a snowball). So, I've saved almost 4.5 M np so far, but it takes a while with training costs - I try to get a class a day. I've found 8 of the 9 lab map peices, but I am leary of labbing - I like my eyrie. So, should I keep saving for SOS, or should I update the current set now? If so, to what? I am thinking I should start kitchen questing too. Any advice on either my set or training options would be much appreciated! |

RE: Looking for advice in several aspects
now, im not an expert but besides the WoR....that set is a 55 boost set which means you have stats which are too good for your set which is 2p is a very bad thing....ive recently found quite a few 85 boost players with SoS's, seriously!
Now you could do 2 things, 1. Save up another 2M and get a freezer(h4k, because freezer prices are rising like crazy), and then start saving from scratch for a bomb(hp or g-bomb, u decide) and better attacking weapons than the scarab ring and the rubber axe is useless in this new era of neopets where 10 icons is the new 6! I remember those days of dual hand-painted scarabs! anyway, you would have to save up quite a bit of cash because you lack a lot of weapons that most ppl with your stats already have....I recommend you stop training for a while and focus on upgrading your set... or 2. ermmm....just do no.1! I should point out though that 2.5M wont even get you a 13 iconer which is crucial since most ppl at 225 boost already have SoS! If i were you I would put off battling 2p until i get my set sorted out unless you can find a 55 boost or 85 boost that would fight you(very rare).. And if you are not fighting very often, try selling the SC as soon as a war rolls around, unless you are willing to wait until TNT retires them because the prices are dropping very fast! Seriously, the SC doesnt do you any good anymore, im at 85 boost and im already thinking of selling it... |

RE: Looking for advice in several aspects
Thanks Sandheep,
Yeah, I sort of figured my set was way off of my stats, that's why I needed advice. I've had my eye on the SOS for a while, but it will take me quite a while to save that much - I've been playing Neo for almost a year and a half, and I only have 4.3 M NP. I was really hoping that the TOW plot would provide me with another decent weapon to go with the WoR, but I guess TNT didn't think we worked hard enough - I only wish I'd been around in time for the LDP, so I could have earned a RotL...Of course, if I were to stop training, that would increase my savings rate, and I do have those 8 lab peices I could sell (not to mention 34K plot points I haven't spent yet). Anyone else have any specific suggestions for my set? Thanks! |

Oh, as far as selling the SC, sure, but I need something better to put in its spot. In my 1 player battles, I use the WoR and SC almost exclusively, as the rest of the set isn't even as good as the SC.

I was also thinking that since I already have the speed and intelligence, perhaps I should look at some of those robes that require those stats - anyone have any experience with those? Would any of those be worth the NP?

yup, those have 100% steals...but most ppl at your level are too experienced and usually put something useless in the 1st spot...i once stole a purple sticky hand

RE: Looking for advice in several aspects
I didn't know stealers always stole from the first spot. I also heard that the Heavy Robe of Theivery (SP?) would let you see what your opponent had in their set, which sounded like it could be useful...
Oh, to the mods, sorry for the triple post before - I didn't see the edit button, but I've found it now! I'll be more careful in the future... |

RE: Looking for advice in several aspects
First, get rid of the Blue Scorchstone. You have totally outgrown it. Replace it using the Greater Healing Scroll. Do not start labbing. You will definitely regret it. Sell all your laboratory pieces for about 500K and then it will be better since you have more cash. First, I think you should get a Mask of Coltzan and an Air Faerie Crown to pair up with it. Replace the Scuzzys Comb and the Immense Rubber Axe of Doom with them. Then, get a Honey Potion to replace the Snowball you normally have. You shouldn't have enough money for a Heavy Robe of Thievery by then, so a Purple Sticky Hand will suffice. I don't know why, but you don't have a Downsize! in your set... Get one. As for your last slot, get a Patched Magic Hat. Your new set:
Purple Sticky Hand Downsize! Patched Magic Hat Greater Healing Scroll Honey Potion Mask of Coltzan Air Faerie Crown Wand of Reality Also, the Heavy Robe of Thievery does NOT let you see what your opponent has. It steals at a 100% steal rate. The Everlasting Crystal Apple allows you to see what your opponent has... I'm not a fan of non-100% freezers or dual-duties. |

RE: Looking for advice in several aspects
Hi WiltChamberlain13,
Thanks for the list. Are any of these items still restocking in the shops, and if so, which shops? I notice that the Battlepedia doesn't always list the source shop for weapons - sometimes its there with the other information and sometimes it isn't. I have pretty decent luck restocking, so if some of these items are still available, I'd try that, for the Greater Healing Scroll and Air Faerie Crown in particular. I know Mask of Coltzan is a Hidden tower, and Honey Potion is a quest prize. I am curious as to why you recommend a bomb when you don't like freezers? Most people seem to recommend using a bomb after you freeze your opponent, since you can only use it once per battle. I just use the snowballs cause the healing spring keeps giving them to me. Oh, and thanks for correcting me about the HRoT, I guess I was mixed up about that. Still, I think I can earn a few hundred K pretty quickly to get a 100% stealer over the 50% stealer. Thanks again! |

RE: Looking for advice in several aspects
I don't know the answer about restocking, as I personally have never restocked anything before, but I know for sure that the Snow Crystal Shop in Ice Caves of Terror Mountain has the Freezing Potion some of the time.
As for the freeze-and-bomb tactic, I feel that freezers are not exactly required in battles unless your opponent has Downsize Power Plus, Thyoras Tear, Thick Smoke Bomb or any other full-blockers. That is because a bomb already does so many icons that even some of it gets blocked, you still do quite a lot of damage. Having a freezer just means another slot wasted. As you can see, you already have Purple Sticky Hand, Downsize!, Greater Healing Scroll and Honey Potion as your "one-use per battle" weapons. If you add another freezer in, all that is left is probably two attackers and one shield. I would rather use the freezer slot for a back-up weapon in case your opponent has shields which block your two main attackers. I'm not a fan of non-100% freezers or dual-duties. |

RE: Looking for advice in several aspects
Well, having read over the advice received so far from both commentors (and thanks to both of you again!), I find it interesting how much opinions differ. One doesn't like freezers, but recommends a stealer, the other recommends getting a freezer right away and thinks stealers don't do much for 2 player. Both have logical reasons for their recommendations, but they have almost completely opposed strategies (except that we all agree my current set needs a lot of work!).
So, for now, I am suspending training and focusing on saving for a better set. While I restock and such, I would welcome any additional advice on what to buy. Also, I am still very curious as to which shops some of the recommended items come from, so if anyone knows, please post a reply. Thanks everyone! |
