Do you need Tabard with GShield?
Is it really neccessary? I'm debating on getting it in addition to GShield or using the nps on other upgrades.
Edit: Sorry for not posting my stats, I forgot to. My current 2 player battling pet has: HP: 225 Str: 85 Def: 250 The main part of my set includes: -PCC -UBG -GB -GShield -H4K -CBT I have 10 mil to spend...any advice? |

RE: Do you need Tabard with GShield?
It's not really possible to say conclusively in your specific case without knowing what the rest of your battleset looks like, and what your pet's stats are. GENERALLY though, unless you have a HUGE amount of nps to play with, I'd consider it a bit of overkill on the pure defensive side. I think the G-Shield is the more useful (heavy dark attack is more likely to be used against you than heavy water attack, with the lesser defenses pretty much a wash). To consider dual shields at the price point, you'd best have a full healer, a 100% freezer, and 2-3 top line offensive weapons and a pet with well trained defense and lots of excess nps.
You can pretend to care, but you can't pretend to BE THERE! |

RE: Do you need Tabard with GShield?
If you're going to overtrain defense by 3 boosts to abuse the current NCW leagues, then GShield + Ftabard is viable. At your stats you actually completely stop dual WoRs or dual BoDs from a pet with your Str Boost, and cut dual PCCs down to 7 damage. You only really have to worry about really heavy rush combos, like Gsword + PCC, dual A-Chucks, dual Kilns and similar pairings or about FSS+ level weapons. Of course you also need to worry about people using Glowing Cauldron or Bracelet of Kings against you.
Of course, those days are numbered, as within a few months the NCW league calculator will classify your pet fairly and you'll be in the league with 200 str opponents where you belong. So enjoy it while you can. "Siggy? whats the real name of the item? *sigh* im new to this whole battledome items....so, sorry! " |

RE: Do you need Tabard with GShield?
Well I wouldn't use them both at the same time. I guess my question should've been do I need Tabard to use in place of GS for any reason?
I know the difference is fire and water block, but does that warrant the need for this shield? Can I survive against PKiln and UBG without it? I appreciate the "warning" schnauzer, but calling my training to be abuse was uncalled for. Plenty of guilds were battling by boost while this pet was in training before they all switched to league style. Not everything I do revolves around NCW. |

silver_arctic1 Wrote:Well I wouldn't use them both at the same time. I guess my question should've been do I need Tabard to use in place of GS for any reason? Icon for icon, G-Shield is CLEARLY superior to the Tabard. That ouold all change in a second if TNT releases a mass water weapon, but for now, the G-Shield is much better. As Vermont said, you're much more likely to be hit by mass dark (Sword of Skardsen) than mass water (Slumberberry Potion). If you wanted to include it for preparedness, then it might be useful with your superior defense. If you're battling other 85 boosters, each of your defense icons is worth two of their attack icons, making either shield nigh unstoppable. It might also be a viable strategy to use both together, then attack with species abilities. Of course, you need to make sure you have other necessary elements, like a bomb, a freezer, a healer, and 2-3 main attacking weapons before you try to buy a Tabard. You might also consider buying a Heavy Blue Tunic, since the defense it provides will actually be useful.

RE: Do you need Tabard with GShield?
Thanks Kage and Sane. I think I'll use the nps towards an upgrade then.
