Post-war prices have gone insane. Get the lab map first and focus on training, weapons will be much cheaper in a week or two.

Before buying a GHK, look at the prices on all of these:
Tyrannian Lupe Tooth (identical icons plus .66 more)
Electro Sword (8 icons)
Fighting Folder (real name is fighting folder, appears to average 7 but also heals 2/round, which is strong at lower boosts)
Enchanted Wooden Bow
Earth Faerie Slingshot
Earth Faerie Bow
Ice Club
Stone Club clubs were selling as low as 60k before war rumours drove up prices, they likely will be again in a month or two.

Yes, as rabid_schnauzer said, for the price of Gold Handled Katana, you'd be better off getting one of the clubs (Stone Club or Ice Club) depending on whether you do 1-player or 2-player.

I'd actually say Ice Club is the better of the two. Although both clubs get 3 icons past the common Leaf Shield, if your opponent carries a Patched Magic Hat (like me), you can actually get 6 icons through instead of the 3 that Stone Club gets through. As you can see:
