Viability of Mono-Iconers

Viability of Mono-Iconers
In a battledome where many icons can be deadened/lessended by dual duties and spread shields, the viability of some mono-iconers comes into question.

For instance, i recently reccomended the usage of Scroll of the Dark Star as a backup weapon. In the 6-9 icon level for instance, many weapons starting at 9 icons are often partially nullified to 3-6 icons. It is often harder to entirely block one icon type (especially without high-level reflectors) by use of varying-icon shields and dual duties.

Mono-iconers are not only harder to block because of strength but also because if a skilled battledomer intersperes them with their main weapons are less frequently anticipated. If the said mono-iconer uses an icon type not used by other weapons in your set it could also be stronger then your mains when it is unblockable but your mains are often blocked partially by your opponents.

In specific, is the said Scroll of the Dark Star viable in a set containing weapons in the catagory of Stone/Ice Clubs, Pselias Fighting Fans, Golden Compasses and Scarab Rings? Dark isnt <2 icons in any of these weapons nor is it dual duty defended (as a matter of fact to block it you'd have to be unlucky enough to find an earthen scorchstone/mystical white cloak and even in these circumstances still have a chance as the opponent is more likely to use their dual duties/leaf shield and if they are scared into using the said items be more vulnerable to your stronger weapons) so it is often useable.

Is this logical/true? Just a few thoughts I thought i'd share Smile (Consider the faerie scrolls and anything else you can find... Scroll of the Dark Star, Scroll of Moon Light, Fiery Sun Scroll (possibly not Fiery Sun Scroll due to Scarab Rings))

RE: Viability of Mono-Iconers
If you play 1-player or 2-player which your opponent never battle with you,mono-iconers really
can give you an advantage. It either hit much or didn't at all.But beware that your opponent go
spread the news that you use mono-iconers.
Personally,I like mono-iconers.One of the most common is Honey Potion which can win a battle if your opponent didn't block it.

RE: Viability of Mono-Iconers
All my weapons are multi-iconers except the Honey Potion.

Mono-iconers are quite nice if you come to think about it, but are either, hard to find, weak or expensive. They're good in a sense that most shields block a variety of different icons. Such shields include Leaf Shield, Patched Magic Hat, Virtupets X-514 Super Shield. But some dual-duties such as Ring of the Lost can block all icons from a mono-iconer. It's a big gamble to use though, because if your opponent uses a Ring of the Lost along with a strong attacker and you only use Scroll of the Dark Star and another weapon, your opponent will pretty much win the battle.

Overall, I would prefer multi-iconers over mono-iconers.

I'm not a fan of non-100% freezers or dual-duties.

The thing is RotL is definatly not in this price range, nor are you likely to find a mono-icon dark weapon in that price range. Also if you opponent uses a RotL you would use weapons that dont have dark.

Dual duties that powerful are rare.

Yes, but if you do 2-player, you wouldn't know your opponent's weapons beforehand.

RE: Viability of Mono-Iconers
Personally, I've had good experience using dual scroll of moon light, but only against other 6 iconers. So if TNT made some 7-9 pure one iconers that were affordable, yeah I would jump on them. As it is, they can make a good BACKUP weapon like you said, force your opponent to take a hit, however weak, instead of blocking anything significant.
Oh, and Mystical white cloak would be a terrible defense againt SotDS, they block 3/6 and do nothing else with that item slot? lol.

RE: Viability of Mono-Iconers
There is an advantage that mono iconers have over multiicon weapons.

However, you do have to realise that someone new to the battledome and neo would not be able to distinguish that advantage. And those who DO know the battledome would probably be able to make enough to aim for the bigger boys range of 9-10 iconers. Yes, they are partially blocked to three to six iconers, but each round a battler uses two weapons right? Cos even if one shield or one dual duty is able to block of a chunk of one weapon, I'm hard pressed to find one that can fight of the different combos of two weapons dealing more than two different icons (except perhaps the higher end shields like G shield).

Eg:

Mystical White Cloak against Scroll of Dark Star and Scroll of Moonlight

vs

Mystical White Cloak against Scarab Ring and Obsidian Dagger

Notice that in both cases, entry level battledome items are used. The second combo is clearly at an advantage.

However, in the case of:

Leaf Shield against Scroll of Dark Star and Scroll of Moonlight

vs

Leaf Shield against Scarab Ring and Obsidian Dagger

Hands down the Scroll-combo wins. But the second combo still manage to do some damage in return still. If change the dagger to a Bone Sceptre the attack will be more.

Also, I haven't include the second weapon the Cloak wielder might have that could block the other icons the Cloak can't block.

My point is, mono icons have a higher advantage. It's just that the disadvantage can be a higher too.

RE: Viability of Mono-Iconers
Or, you could use two of the same mono-iconers, thus reducing the amount blocked in the situation you gave. However, its also gambling that your opponent doesn't have something such as a winged hammer that'll beat you.
