http://idb.finalhit.org/uploads/sirhatte...lyzer5.htm the better news is the 6th one of these is on the way. and the 7th... which is an epic battle "When all is said and done, if I spent most of my time sitting at a poker table, I would feel that I was a loser in the game of life... Your goal in life should not be to make money, but making money may help you achieve your goals." --Barry Greenstien |

RE: battle analysis articles resume
What's the reasoning behind using species abilities instead of berserk and such?
Probably a noobish question, but I've never really done battling that didn't involve endless spyder squishing. (I'd appreciate anyone's answer on this.) |

RE: battle analysis articles resume
I think (and someone can correct me if I'm wrong) that when you use berserk, you increase the damage you do by 50%, but also increase the damage done to you by 50%. Most people don't want to risk taking a big hit like that. If you use a species ability, it's like using a 6-icon attack weapon on cautious -- no damage bonus, but no extra damage done to you, either. Right?

RE: battle analysis articles resume
Adding to what Cran said. Also some species abilities has a nice mix of icons... is it like having another attack weapon to rotate.

RE: battle analysis articles resume
It also depends on the amount of icons your weapon deals. Sometimes 50% doesn't mean it's more than the 6 icons max your species can deliver. Also some species abilities defends or reflects rather than attack, so it's a matter of individual species strategy.
I also think that berzerk is best used in a freeze-bomb situation, whereby you bomb your frozen opponent, cos you know you are not getting any damage back. Or in situations where you down to your last 2 health points and there is no way you can win, but there is a chance for a draw with your opponent. Other than that, using bezerk is risky business. One suggestion for the next one you write: Somehow you need to get the pictures INTO the article. With this one, I had to copy/paste the URL into a new window (although you can just change the number after the first one, but it's still a pain).
Other than that, it was a great analysis. I really enjoy reading these

RE: battle analysis articles resume
In terms of Drain Life using 10% you have to use it on weak. All faerie abilities will use a full 39% if not used on Medium/Weak. However when you alter the power usage then the efficiency is downsized according to how much power is taken away. Only Fiery Gaze, Diamond Dust, Drain Life, Quench and single-icon full blocks will maintain 100% efficiency despite being used on Weak or Medium.
In terms of Berserking versus Species Abilities...it really depends on the situation. Yes, you will amp up your dmg by 50% however your opponents dmg is also amplified so your giving them a free ride. If they have a shield then offensive icons will go through by overloading the shield (the amount depends on OPP DEF to YOUR STR) yet you leave yourself open to attack. Species abilities tacks on extra icons without you taking extra damage. Berserking should only be used on Freeze-Rounds or as a last resort hoping to tie. It should be used sparingly. The only reason you would need to berserk mid-battle would be either on a very strong and convincing gut feeling or if it is required for your strategy. It can help or cripple you. Considering the rounds in which UltimateChu just shielded and used species abilities (Reflector included however it doesn't show up since it didn't reflect any icons) they look like wasted prime opportunities to Berserk while Shielding. A risk...yes...however your dmg potential greatly outweighs the dmg inflicted to you and by using a shield you minimize the dmg. But choosing the rounds in which you'll think they will just shield + reflect + ability is basically like running blindfolded across a highway one lane at a time hoping that the next lane will be clear. It's unpredictable. Your either clear or hurt/dead. However, don't rule it out. It's always an option but you have to be very careful when to use. Also expect your opponent to make changes in midbattle. Your basically trying to counter each other's moves so make sure you don't put yourself in a position that will invoke a berserk. |

Sometime ago one could alter the usage of power on all the faerie abilities but not now, like Drain Life. Also i guess that you can use 39% or 40% on Strong. It depends on who click first.
