Old DOS games

Recently, I got an urge to play an old DOS game I remember from a long time ago, Blake Stone. Googling quickly brought me to http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/index.php. I was very disappointed when running the game only gave me a blank screen. It turns out that because of the huge differences between Windows XP and DOS, a lot of old games won't work on newer computers.

After fiddling with the compatability options and such and still not getting anything other than a blank screen, I came across something called DOSBox on the above site's forums. It's a program that emulates a DOS environment in Windows (versions for linux, unix, mac exist too) for the specific purpose of getting old games to work.

So if you remember any old games that you'd like to play again, those two links should help.

Because of the age of some games, the full version of games that used to be shareware have been released as freeware! (Shareware = software that lets you freely distribute and use part of it for free, but to get to full version you need pay)

One such game that I highly reccommend is One Must Fall: 2097 by Epic Megagames. It's a street fighter type game set in the future. You fight with robots and it has rpg elements, allowing you to upgrade your robot and buy training for yourself as you get money by winning matches in tournaments.

I remember one game made by Electronic Arts called Starflight, is that still around? You needed this code sheet that came with the game, but I'm sure someone has it still

Good memories...I remember we used to all crowd around the computer to play/watch Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure. And whenever we went over to my cousins's house, we would play Wacky Wheels and Sky Roads. I never really knew what those second two were called until I looked them up on the website.

Found a site that has Starflight for download, I think it has the code sheet that you need as well.

Mike: Site edited out, I've learned that even though the game is like 20 years old, it's still technically illegal to download (even though almost certainly no one cares). Luckily I bought it a long time ago
