This article is mainly comparing scrolls to scorchstones- how do they heal and which is better? I found that a lot of people didn't really know the difference (like me), or weren't very clued in on it (like me), so I decided to do some tests, and wrote this article...

Let's compare a Greater Healing Scroll to a Purple Scorchstone. Both heal the same, and are basically the same, (not counting the prices) right? Wrong. What's the difference? Let's put you into a battledome scene...

Your max HP is 100, and you have 75 HP left. You're against a 85 boost pet, and he uses two Magical Glowing Carrots, which do 5 icons each. That makes 25 damage.

In the next move, you use your Greater Healing Scroll- here's what'll happen, in order.

1- Your greater healing scroll will heal you 50 HP (no overheal), giving you 100 HP.
2- Your opponent attacks you with 10 icons, dealing 25 damage.
3- You end up with 75 damage.

Now, let's say that you used a Purple Scorchstone instead of a Greater Healing Scroll- Here's what'll happen then.

1- Your opponent attacks you with 10 icons, dealing 25 damage.
2- You have 50 HP.
3- Your Purple Scorchstone heals you 50 HP, giving you 100 HP.

Hmm... So, maybe the Scroll isn't as good as you thought. But, that scene is quite in the SS' favour. Let's look at another scene...

Your max HP is 100, and you have 25 HP left. You're against a 55 boost pet, and he uses two Ramtors Spellbooks, which do 10 icons each. That makes 50 damage.

You use a Greater Healing Scroll:

1- Your Greater Healing Scroll will heal you 50 HP, giving you 75 hp.
2- Your opponent attacks, doing 50 damage.
3- You end up with 25 HP.

Now, let's see what'll happen if you use a Purple Scorchstone...

You use a Purple Scorchstone.

1- Your opponent attacks, dealing 50 damage. (Don't worry, this doesn't kill you, but in tests, it brings you down to a minus. So, you have -25 HP right now.)
2- You use a Purple Scorchstone.
3- You end up with 25 HP.

So, they're equal. Let's look at one last scene...

Your max HP is 100, and you have 25 HP left. You're against a 85 boost pet, and he uses two Magical Glowing Carrots, which do 5 icons each. That makes 25 damage.

You use a Greater Healing Scroll

1- Your Greater Healing Scroll Heals to 75 HP.
2- Your opponent attacks, doing 25 damage.
3- You end up with 50 HP.

You use a Purple Scorchstone.

1- Your opponent attacks, doing 25 damage.
2- Your Scorchstone heals you 50 HP.
3- You end up with 50 HP.

So, there- The works of the Greater Healing Scroll and Purple Scorchstone in a nutshell. Also, keep in mind that this work applies to all Healing Scrolls and Healing Scorchstones. I could go on about this, but I won't, instead, I'll just end this article with a FAQ- I hope this helped!

FAQ:
well it depends on how much money you have. if you have a lot, you might as well buy a ss. the timing is the one and only thing that matters. it can be very helpful in important battles but other than that, use scrolls. one more thing. scrolls are fragile so you might have to buy multiples.
oh heres something i need to know. for example, someone uses a GHS for um [(max number of times)-1] and sells it without knowing how much times they can still use it, of course... i buy it. i use it one time. will it break? or do the number of times used reset?
you might want to add how much better the scorchstone is for low level pets. if you have like 4 hit points (noobinater) and you use the scroll, nothing, heal back to 4, which is useless.

but the purple scorchstone brings you back to life =D if you are a 4 hit point pet, and get hit with 40 damage, scroll=death. scorchstone=full HP still =D
yeah that too...but do you know the answer to my question in 'post #3'?
being fragile is completely random. it could break first turn or like 10th turn, just depends how lucky/unlucky you are.

and i think the scroll isn't fragile anymore, and if it is it's under 1%
thats good...any better scrolls though?
I think GHS is the best there is...I could very well be wrong though...
I have a question about this. What about Leaded Elemental Vial and Jade SS/Ice SS. Do they all heal after damage?
Scorchstones that heal a specific amount (ex: purple scorchstone) do not heal after damage. They over-heal. In other words, say your hp is 80/100, you use a purple scorchstone and go to 130/100, you are attacked for 20 damage taking you down to 110/100, and since you can't have more than your max hp you automatically get set to 100/100 hp. If you were to use agreater healing scroll that dosen't over-heal this would happen.... Your health is 80/100, you use it to heal 50 hp, but since it dosen't over-heal you just go to 100/100, you take 20 damage, your health goes back down to 80/100. Scorchstones do not heal after damage; they over-heal.

As far as Jade SS / LEV they can't over-heal because they don't heal a specific amount, rather, they resore you to full hp before damage. If they healed after damage then it would effectively be a full blocker and full healer all in one. The only weapon that I think might do that is the Jeweled Scarab, and gl finding one of those >_<
basically scrolls heal BEFORE DAMAGE IS DONE but the scorchstones heal what they are supposed to lets say ya have a pet with 40 hp 20 damage is done and you heal with a blue ss on that turn meaning that you will end up with 30hp however if you use a GHS on that turn you will stay at 20hp i think the scrolls are better for their price though
