I don't know if any changes happened to GHS as far as being fragile but it is definitely not fragile right now
and it doesn't heal variable, it heals you to full.
Let's say you have 70/100 HP and your opponent does 10 damage. Your GHS heals you 30, bringing you up to 100/100 then the opponent's damage comes in and you end the turn with 90/100 HP so in a way you only gained 20 HP and the GHS only healed 30. However, if you used a purple scorchstone at 70/100, and the opponent did 10 damage you would heal 50, go up to 120/100, have your opponent do 10 damge and bring you down to 110/100 HP and then since you can't have more than your max you go down to 100/100. Now let's say you have 40/100 HP and you use GHS. It will heal you 50 HP as will purple scorchstone. So basically, if you have over 50 HP lost they're equal and GHS is better because of the price. However if you have under 50 HP missing the overheal factor makes purple scorchstone better. Also, let's say you have a max of 30 HP. GHS will never heal you 50. You have to have at least 50 HP missing so at least 51 max HP. So if you have 5/50 HP you may be thinking that it will heal you 50 since you have a max of 50. WRONG. It will heal you 45 HP to bring you up to 50/50 HP
what about species specific and the healing dust?
those heal by percent. Let's take the bag of healing dust and say you have 20/500 HP. You use the bag and heal 50% of your max HP and heal 250 bringing you up to 270/500 HP and then let's say your opponent does 85 damage, you'll be brought down to 185/500 HP. However it really isn't worth it with under 100 HP because then it will heal you up to 49.5 HP depending on how much you have left so it has the same effect as GHS for pet's at 100 HP and GHS is superior for pets with under 100 HP. Now with Kacheek Life Potion, let's say you use it with 35/100 HP. You have over 1/3 your max HP so it will heal you to 100/100 HP. But if you have 33/100 HP it will only heal you 33.3 HP bringing you up to 66/100 HP before damage
also Slime Potion is a viable alternative that acts as a cheaper and weaker blue scorchstone
Lucky for me, my favorite pet is my gelert and was before I started the battledome so i get to use Gelert Healing Remedy without having to morph my precious
