At what point is it more valuable to spend NP on weapons rather than training? I am interested both in people's theories and practicality for my pet. Here's the stats:
Level: 77
Health: 153 / 153
Strength: AMAZING (92)
Defence: AMAZING (85)
Move: EXCELLENT (47)
Weapons:
Shiny Shoal Shell Shield
Honey Potion
Leaf Shield
Ylanas Blaster
Unstable slime
Tyrannian Lupe Tooth
Snowglobe Staff
Greater Healing Scroll
I have enough for a 100% freezer or other "expensive" (under 10M) weapon; how should I balance training with upgrading my set?
Beth
In 1p, it's almost always better to train up stats. Virtually all of that 10 million would be best spent on training. 10 million can get you a long, long way. I'm not going to bother to calculate how strong that would get your pet to be, but I imagine it would be at least twice as strong as it is now, probably a lot more. You can figure it out exactly for yourself if you'd like. Those stats boost would way more helpful than an H4K or whatever else you could spend the np on.
For 2p, well, there's no real answer, it's basically personal preference.
Most people tend to break it down by whether training to the next Boost (and matching HP) is cheaper than upgrading to the next level. Keep in mind, however, that a guaranteed freezer (and a 50% healer) are essential in Two Player (and less so in One Player).
I've spent far more on training than my set. =/ If you want to do 1-p, I'd say training. If you're into 2-p I'd consider set more important.
I like to balance the two actually. But as the others have already stated, it all depends on what type of battling you do. For the most part, training is #1 for 1p battlers and set is for 2p battlers
Using my boosts for an example 250 str, 250 def), you can look at it this way:
A
Sparkshooter in my hands beats a
Wand of Reality in a 30 Str person's hands but loses to a
Bone Sceptre in a 125 str person's hands.
What I always did when I reached a new boost was to reward myself with a better weapon/shield/healer. What ever I thought was the biggest hole in my set. After a while, It took time to save up for that reward but i'm definately happy that I have a balanced pet and set
I'd think a healthy balance of the two would be best. Although remember that training takes time (and if not, then a LOT of money), so if you are more of a 1-P battler, keep training regularly. You'll regret it later if you take breaks, I know from experience.
Even for 2P I'd keep training...battling only gets more fun as your pet becomes stronger. Make upgrades to your set while you train at the same time...you really don't need an amazing set to enjoy battling.

I would only say that is true if you already have a 60+ mil set. Its not fun to battle 2p if you are constantly outclassed by bigger sets.
Like everyone else has said though, for 1p stats are more important for 2p set is MUCH more important. in 2p you can almost always find other opponenets with similar stats especially if you train to the max of a league (but that thins out as you get stronger), but as you get stronger, peoples sets gennerally get better, up until you get around a 40 to 60mil set.
Yah it does really suck if you are constantly outclassed, but I've seen some pretty brilliant strategies from people with sets of values much less than mine (rabid comes to mind...). And I myself have beaten out comparable pets with sets that blew mine out of the water.
Training is really such a passive thing (you start the course and leave it be). Take the time in between to make NP

Well, this question is actually a lot easier than people make it out to be:
if you are into 2p fighting by boost or league, the correct answer is to STOP training at around league 3 or 4 (the minimum for a lot of events) and then spend 100% of your battling budget on upgrading weapons. Once you are at something like RoDN + 2x SuAP + M-Skull / Ice Dice + Skarls + T-Tear + Jade SS / ECA + T-Ring / YYPS / Xantan Cloak / Battle Plunger + then you can maybe think about training to the 55 boost. Maybe.
And this is just going to be the only correct answer until such time as TNT figures a way to make sets as transparent as stats currently are (which since their staff doesn't even understand how healing works in the BD, that's going to happen on the 5th of Never). Or until someone can come up with a group of easy-to-recall voluntary set restrictions that the BD chat actually likes (which is probably the 6th)
If you are into league/boost based 1p events, the answer is similar but not to such an extreme degree The correct full blocker + P-Pots / GC + ECA works wonders on a lot of 1p opponents, and a lot of them are about grinding and the amount of previous wins, or time available to grind on Neo.
If you are into 1p for trophies, HS tables or helping your guild out in 1p events Then the answer is that it is probably inefficient to upgrade past buyable weapons until you are past 200 Strength. At current (deflated codestone) training prices, it is about 7.5 million and 3-8 months to train to 200/200/200 stats. With buyable weapons (9 iconers), a total budget of less than 8.3 million gets you 121.5 damage on an offensive berserk and 250-332 available HP (GHS or KLP) with base + Healer.
For comparison, a 125/125/125 pet costs around 3.1 mil to train, the highly efficient Y-Blasters would only let you do 114 points on an offensive berserk, and you would need at least 4 rounds with an ECA to match the amount of total available HP. That's an 8.8 million budget and tying up a slot with healing for an additional 3 rounds to come out slightly behind.
It would take SoS + LEV to actually come out ahead here.
