Well, for those who have been around before I was, what was boing used for? It kinda seems like money, except I don't know what it's used for.

It was used to buy items, battle equipment, and all kinds of fun stuff. There were lots of Neopets-themed items such as Gormballs or Cooking Pots that had effects similar to their Neopets counterparts.

We used to have pets, equipment, training, fun attack other items and so on.

What we will have this time is still unknown as we do not know how much Myplaza can take.

Boing is back!? Thosee were the good old days! Buying pets, making boing, stealing boing from others. Hopefully we get some of those fun items back!

Yes, you could hire various evildoers such as the Pant Devil to steal Boing for you or you could use an item to do so.

I thought it was a bug when I spotted bong in my bar, because of the few times things had glitched in ages past and it had, briefly, shown up.

Silly me when that got closed and I got told otherwise.

How do you get Boing? I know you get it for posting, but how much do you get it? 0.01 boing per letter?

Boing has a number of uses:

0) People like boing and join the forums because of it. Activity blossoms. All is well.

1) The mods, now know as TMS or The Mod Squad, use boing to boss everyone else around and show that they own this place. They use their status as "mod" to group together and form a defense ring such that everyone in the ring is protected. When normal users try and do something similar, TMS gets scared, spreads lies and false rumors about such groups, and ultimately bans most of the members of such groups if they don't go away.

2) New users, fresh off an addiction to neopoints, realize they can get all the boing they want by spamming up the forums. They also realize that the longer your posts are, the more boing they get. Their computers become infected with "viruses" whereby their keyboards "have to type everything three times" and there is "no way to fix it".

3) New users who don't cheat (see 2) have their boing stolen by greedy older users. They cannot protect themselves because they always get stolen from and can't protect themselves (see 1). Eventually they manage to get some form of protection, and start stealing from other new members.

4) Eventually, they stop caring about boing and turn into diamonds trying to be the best boing. They classify people into categories such as "mods" and "old people" until they find a category that they belong in and are the best boing in. They try justify why that category is really how people should be ranked and why everyone outside of that category doesn't count.

5) Ultimately, boing becomes more trouble than its worth, as it turns presumably normal nice people into tyrants and splits the forum in half. A while later, boing will be removed. Several years after the fact, the forum still won't have recovered. Boing will be readded and clucky will come out of the shadows to make another post.
