Currently have a bid on a winged scarab which I think I might need to kick up my defence a notch
K,
So I 1p battle 99% of the time and I train using kitchen quests. I have 800k left over after recently getting the h4k and now not sure what I should aim to upgrade next. I earn a few 1000 per day in shares and shops sales.
A few quick random thoughts:
Your current equipped lineup is awfully heavy on dark attack. Anything with a G-Shield is going to give you fits as both Ramtors and the SoA are heavy on dark attack.
Your next big move will be an upgrade on healer. You didn't mention your pet's current species, but you're moving beyond the Greater Healing Scroll and if you continue to train, it will become a weaker and weaker item for you.
Adding some defensive training wouldn't hurt, particularly if you're in this for the long haul. At present, the Leaf Shield isn't a particularly robust item for you as your pet would benefit more from either pure offensive attack (where it's stronger than defensively), or from percentage items like the Downsize! you now have and the Winged Scrab you mentioned.
MAJOR POINT - I think you've gone overboard on the QUANTITY of weapons while not concentrating enough on the QUALITY of them. You only have eight weapons slots you can use. I'd consider for where you are, the H4000, Ylanas Blaster and Honey Potion to be front line and solid. Beyond that, you have a massive collection of items that are useful, and which can be strategic, but which really aren't on a par with the rest of your set. I personally have more than eight weapons, and certainly encourage players in your stat area to do so as well, but with INEXPENSIVE situational items (Purple Sticky Hand, Downsize!, Scarab Ring, Leaf Shield). You have some more substantial weapons tying up a lot of neopoints in value while not really providing you with much in the way of upgrades to your set. They're semi-interchangeable, though proper situational use will maximize the effectiveness of all. Still, it's too much mediocracy at too high of a price. I'd rather see several of those so-so options exchanged for one or two strong items that you'll virtually always want equipped, with the situational fill-ins being cheaper to allow you finish off a STRONG front line set. For example, the Golden Compass is probably the best of your SEVEN secondary weapons, about as good as Ramtors and not much below the SoA. I see prorities as healer, then a front line attacker (watch the shifting Bow of Destiny, Wand of Reality prices at the moment), with a second Ylanas Blaster being a lesser option, or, if you're going to train defense, and like to use situationals, a Dusty Magic Broom might be to your liking. The SoA is a weak second attacker, and that #2 attack position needs upgrading.
Thanks, will sell SoA being the more expensive and replace in with the GoC, plan to sell the clubs, wand and fan but hang onto the EoE and SC unless i can be persuaded otherwise. EoE i like for its icon type being different to the rest of the weapons i'm thinking of keeping. I have a 2nd ylanas blaster but undecided on keeping/trading it
As far as healers go without morphing my pet i agree its going to become a weaker item. At the moment im thinking of going for a Bag of Healing Dust which i saw for 7.5mill yesterday in the trading post
Training at the moment seems costly with codestones and im not keen on using my labray any more after losing valuable stats to many times + having my species changed. That leaves me relying on kitchen and faerie quests mostly. I have the winged scarab addeed to my line up replacing the leaf shield
have approx 1mill in neopoints left plus the sale of some weapons might get me around 2.5/3 mill. Then i need to figure if i should go on to save for the healer or go for the quick weapons upgrade like the Bow of Destiny
The step up to the Bag of Healing Dust is really a mighty leap, but if you can afford it, it's an item that you'll have for a long, long time, and which increase in value to you the more you train.
Given the low current price on Ylanas Blaster and the fact that offensively it can serve a purpose for you at present, I wouldn't be in a hurry to dump it.
For its price, the EoE isn't bad and its icon's are concentrated, which is more helpful than some of the other similarly powered alternatives.
Keep in mind that if you think training with codestones is expensive now, it'll only get worse as you go on, and if K-quests bump up your levels, I'm not sure avoiding the classes will look like such a good idea in hindsight. Personally I did the K-Quests AND the codestone training, but kept the codestone training confined to strength and defense (along with level only when required in order keep training). Hit points are the most easy of the "big three" stats to acquire and the least expensive, so I didn't make them a priority (they're also the stat most frequently given out by K-Quests).
The Winged Scarab is a handy and useful item (especially for its price), and isn't total at the mercy of your defensive stats. Keep in mind though, that while the penalty of using it goes up in damage done to you by physical attack as you train defense, you offset that by getting more utility out of the air defense it provides.
I wouldn't cry over the departure of the SoA, as I'd rather go into battle with twin Y-Blasters at the top of my set than one blaster and the SoA, though you do still need another (non-Y-Blaster) front line offensive weapon.
Keep in mind that at the moment, an item like the Short Sleeved Yellow Tunic might be an immediate option at healer if you can get your pet's intellegence up without spending too much. That said, if you're in this for the long-haul you'll outgrow it and end up doing another upgrade again before long.
Finally, if you don't plan on labbing at present, you might want to ponder whether you could be happy with a species like a Kacheek, Elephante, Gelert, etc. that has a 50% species healer that doesn't cost megabucks. That's a matter of choice of course, but if you can live with a species with a healer, you suddenly have lots of nps for other upgrades, though it'll be another reason to keep you away from using the lab ray.
Anyway, good luck!
hey here's an update
been upgrading intelligence to be able to use a Short Sleeved Yellow Tunic before hiking up for a bag of healing dust.
Sold of a number of my secondary weapons and now have
Current Set:
1. H4000 Helmet
2. Honey Potion
3. Ylanas Blaster
4. Ramtors Spellbook
5.
6. Downsize!
7. Leaf Shield
8. Greater Healing Scroll
as my third weapon i have seen both wor and bod in auctions for 2.8 mill, having to log of and not miss a deal i have to pick one, now im not sure which is better but i figured i could at least get my money back at that price in time. I picked the Bow because it its icons looked ok, but nor think it may not have been the beast choice adding earth icons to my line up when i could have had a good light/air combo instead,
so keep the bow or sell and buy the wand?
Hmmm....lets see. #1 and #2 slots (primary offensive attackers) - Bow of Destiny (or switch for Wand of Reality) and Ylanas Blaster - reasonable. #5 slot, Freezer - H4000 Helmet - fine. #6 slot, Bomb - Honey Potion - fair, this isn't much of an upgrade over your current multi-use attackers, but it is a bit of a one. #7 slot - Healer - Greater Healing Scroll - Weak, you've outgrown this and the more you train, the weaker it'll become, and at some point you'll be doing your opponent more of a favor than yourself by using it. That leaves the more optional #3 and #4 slots (third attacker, dual-duty, shield), where I'd think you're carrying the Ramtors Spellbook and the Leaf Shield - fair-poor, the Spellbook is more a #4 slot item (non-exceptional attacker), and concidering that you have a boost advantage for strength over defense, the Leaf Shield isn't a particularly good item for you. The Winged Scarab would be an improvement - heck the Scarab Ring would be an improvement, as would the Golden Compass there. #8 slot - Downsize! - this is a fine situational item, and I sure think you should have one, but I think it's more something you rotate in and out depending upon the opponent and situation. Other good options for rotating are the Leaf Shield if you get your defense up, the Scarab Ring and a Purple Sticky Hand, as all are cheap and can be VERY useful in the right situation.
As for the choice between the Bow and the Wand, I don't think it's a problem, Honey Potion, which is only a once-per-battle item and presumably would be used most often against a frozen opponent where icons don't matter anyway. Also the light from the Wand of Reality would be in addition to the light attack of Ramtors, and the air in addition to the air of the Y-Blaster. I think you have far bigger problems elsewhere in your set to address. If you still have a second Ylanas Blaster, that would be a better option for the #3 spot than Ramtors.
Either the Bow or the Wand is your #1 attacker at this point, and either is acceptable. I'd concentrate on the healer, getting a stronger item in the #3 slot, and replacing the Leaf Shield with something that better matches your strength (offense), or covers up for you lesser defense. You also need to decide if you're going to train defense or not. The sooner you do, the sooner you'll know which direction to go in your upgrade selections.
Ok, had forgotten i did manage to get myself a winged scarab a while back so after reading what you said this is what it shapes up like.
1. Bow of Destiny
2. Ylanas Blaster
3. Winged Scarab
4. Leaf Shield - Sell/trade
5. H4000 Helmet
6. Honey Potion - Sell/trade
7. Greater Healing Scroll
8. Downsize!
As you pointed out my hp doesnt really provide any better than weapons in my #1 and #2 spots. It was great when i only had 9 iconers but quite simply average now. I'm not aware of any other bombs within reasonable price range of the hp unless you know any. If not then im thinking about parting with it and putting it towards a healer. The alternative i can think of it the mean time whilst saving for other upgrades could be a Golden Compass as you mentioned in one of your previous posts, do you think that would be more suitable?
As far as defence, i plan to get a wriggle on with defence training once i reach my next attack boost. Leaf shiled does ok, but not much better as its icons demand. As an upgrade would i be better going for sophies magic hat, the vitupets shield or something else. I don't want to go crazy on high priced items of this nature till my healer is upgraded, id be looknig for something under 100k preferably but will part with up to 500k for something worthy or such cost
Current Set:
1. H4000 Helmet
That's good. It's a 100%freezer.
2. Honey Potion

6. Downsize!
That's good. It's can be 50% defence. But just once per battle.
7. Leaf Shield
Not too good for you now.buy a Sophies Magic Hat .
8. Greater Healing Scroll
That's OK.It's can be heal 50HP.
You can be sell all other weapons you have. They are weak.Don't use basic 9/10 icon weapons now.
Also,Winged Scarab is a good weapon. You can buy it.
Final set:
1. H4000 Helmet
2. Honey Potion
3. Ylanas Blaster
4. Ylanas Blaster
5.Winged Scarab
6. Downsize!
7. Leaf Shield
8. Greater Healing Scroll
I wish I can help you. :]
I think the Honey Potion while minorly helpful can be a source of funds for a healing upgrade which will make much more of an impact on your success than the extra couple of icons from the potion. With a Winged Scarab in hand, you some defense against air, and good defense against physical attack. The Leaf Shield gives you some water and earth coverage, leaving dark, light and fire as icons you can't defend. If you want to conserve nps to upgrade the healer, the Golden Compass will give you an attack and a bit of dark defense, a CHEAP Scarab Ring adds some fire defense (along with physical), and light defense could be had in an item like the Sword of the Dead. These AREN'T for the most part great weapons, but they fit a purpose and do it without burning up nps.
That said, since you currently are a boost up on defense over strength, I'd try to avoid using a pure shield and go the dual-duty route (Golden Compass, Scarab Ring type) if I want to have some defense, though I'll repeat that offense is of more bang to the buck for you at the moment, unless or until your get your defense up to match your strength. If you still want to go with a pure shield, you might check the Patched Magic Hat, though if it were me, given where you are, I'd forget the pure shield approach entirely as there's nothing in your budget that I consider really worthwhile, and there are inexpensive dual duties that will give you more bang for nps.
Here is another update
1. Freezing Potion
2. Ylanas Blaster
3. Ylanas Blaster
4.
5.Winged Scarab
6. Downsize!
7. Leaf Shield
8. Short Sleeved Yellow Tunic
Also have an Enchanted Kiko Squeeze Toy & Sophies Magic Hat
Have 500k on hand
currently making 25-50k per day
have 2 Ylanas blasters in sdb
