The great thing about football (soccer) is that it is enjoyed in every single nook and cranny of the world, go to the streets of El Salvador, Kenya or Australia and you won't be far from kids kicking a ball around, its a worldwide language

The way MLS is heading, it wants to be the force of North and South America rather than trying to become or overtake Europe. Most of the clubs are bringing in young Argentinian and Colombian players, such as Juan Toja, who would not have joined MLS 5 years ago. The quality of play is rapidly increasing, and even though I support a Premier League club, I still find an average MLS game more exciting than an EPL game.
Excitement does not equal high standard. The EPL is to be blunt, fairly dull. Excitement is in the English Championship if you want it.
Just how far do you really think the MLS is going to go? Due to the limited supply of good players willing to go the the US, they are buying youngsters like Juan Carlos Toja, but where are they gonna go if they achieve a good standard? Europe or South America. The MLS can never hope to match Brazil or Argentina. Even Mexican standards are out of reach. There's only so far you'll get without drawing in the crowds, and American's are hardly going to flock to see Argentinian League rejects like Toja when they have their own sports. You try and make it sound like the cram of South America is going to the MLS, but it isn't. Apologies for using Toja as a micronism for them all, but he went to Argentina first, and only after he flopped did he join Dallas. The MLS isn't going to produce stars. If Toja does show real potential (not just can-succeed-in-a-poor-league potential), he'll go immediately. The forces of North and South America are the ones who can lure good players to them like San Lorenzo did with D'Alessandro or Sau Paulo did with Adriano. America will never do this.
