I remember my first war, the first meridell one. I used... Let me remember... Oh! An Ice Scimitar and a Fire Sword ('cause I didn't knew better, and hey! they sounded cool) and a few snowballs that costed me almost all my money.

It was fun then, And I remember getting on the the Neopets forums to discuss the war, and reading the comics as soon as they were released and... really enjoying them.

I didn't even get a T-shirt, but that war made me interested in the Battledome.
aw this brings back memories haha.. I remember fighting in meridell I, with a chomby, using a steel chomby sword and i forget what else. I still have a screenie vs. Lisha, when stealing was still allowed in wars and I stole her TTear. I remember getting the 9 wins against her that I did was very satisfying to me, haha.

Then I was one of those who saved up every NP to buy a 10 icon dark battle duck, and was let down when it was downgraded.. oh goodness.
I made my account in early 2003 when I was 10. That was a year before the Meridel/Darigan Wars. I remember I have just gotten my internet (dialup Closedeyes) not long ago and I have been experimenting with several games. Neopets was introduced to me through my sister's friend, though I had never considered it fun.

For the first year or so, I vaguely remember myself playing the neopets games like Tug-of-War, or Meerca Chase, and earned a grand total of 84k by the end of the year. I had no motivation to learn about the battledome, though I have fought once against the chia clown, and lost miserably.

As for training, I knew about nothing besides the shrine, which my cousin told me about. I also used to think that level was all that matters (pokemon does that to you). I did try to train, however, I had no idea how to pay for my codestone courses. I would keep click the “pay” button but would get nowhere. In addition, I constantly went on hiatuses because neopets was THAT boring and I played arcade games or things of that sort.

Anyways...the first time I got interested in battledoming was during the Curse of Maraqua War. The reason I started playing again was because in that year, I had a computer class in school and we could "freeplay" a few days every week. With a huge amount of sites blocked, miracously, neopets worked. And a lot of people in my class were playing on it too, so I was like alright.

I used to use really bad weapons like Coltzans Gem (I beat Punchbag Bob with Lightning Beam and Coltzans Gem), until I met a friend who’s semi-experienced with the battledome with a 125 str boost 250 hp pet. He told me about scarab rings, which I used and owned the other guys in my computer class. Haha. Good old days.

So..that’s what I used when fighting in CoM. I remember earning up to 1 mil neopoints (somehow..o.o) though, so I could have gotten myself better weapons. Argh. Looking back at my BD records, I have beaten the weakest challenger about 220 times, and the next two ones one time each. I remember Onion Balms being at 18k, which was why I gave up fighting. After the war, I still have not gotten interested in the battledome, though I have learned how to train, which I did occasionally.

So here I am, with a 298 hp 200 str and def boost pet. I am fairly proud of this accomplishment of mine.
Hmmm I remember when the first Meridell war came about and believe it or not, I actually had 4 rather well trained pets. At that time I had a gelert, a peophin, a lupe and a shoyru.
For some reason even to this day I have no clue why but I trained my peophin the most. I recall using two hand painted scarabs, snowglobe staff, red sticky hand, Illusens earth potion, leaf shield and such. I remember who got me started on neopets but not going down that memory lane. I actually surprised myself and few of my fellow guild members (can't really recall the guild I was in at that time). I rather traded off with all four of my pets but my peophin did the most battling. I ended up scoring 427 points for that first war of Meridell...I must say I was rather proud of myself and I had done some crazy strategies.

Meridell II: I joined the bad guys side that time, I had a hand painted scarab, Hypno Helmet that I paid like 100k or 200k can't recall (sold it because I had no idea that it was a once per battle item and thought it was not worth having) I also had the peophin bubble which of course did the 7-8 icons of damage and for me that was huge. So at that time I had replaced my Illusens Earth Potion for the Honey Potion, kept using my trusty snowglobe staff, added downsize! and what not. I then sold my hand painted scarab to get another peophin bubble to deal more damage to the other side.

CoM: Yeah my bd set didn't exactly change because I couldn't afford the better bd items such as dark battle duck or even the battle duck. I was real annoyed of the rankings because I did a miserible 20 wins all together. From time to time real life would interfere with my neopet life.

Lost desert plot yeah umm what did I have? Hahaha can't recall my set but still had downsize!, leaf shield, and snowglobe staff. I think I might have earned enough nps to buy a dark battle duck but by that time I think it only did 8 icons instead of the 10. The reason for the low score was at that time I was busy working like 6 days a week and never really had the time to finish all the steps of the plot.

Tale of Woe: Now then I had much better items, stonger pets had pounded two of my weaker pets. (It hurt me to have left them there). I wasn't able to complete all the steps sad to say but at least I scored over 6k points (6810pts to be exact).

This time around I have decent set not great but decent and have an interesting strategy even though some people don't see or rather don't understand my strategy...all I can say is that it works for me. Big Grin
I have to say that one of my favorite things about past wars was also seeing the progress in each shield for each war, and also watching the numbers go up in real time.

Meridell Herald 45 points
Journeyman 256 points
Rogue 2004 points
Sailor 33 points Warrior (Rank 2) *bleh*

I regret to this day joining Meridell for my first war but, hey, it was my first war and I really wanted a draik. I thought my alliance might influence that somehow, no idea how really with my weak little pet. Those Darigan avs are so nice though. I've joined the evil side every time since, whenever we had a choice.

My other big memories were my excitement over getting a Sinsis Sword from Taelia at some point, and also my Wand of Reality from NQ2, both of which I definitely had for the Hannah war, possibly before.

I also remember getting so annoyed at the poisoning in the Hannah war that I created a pteri to take on the weaker opponents, equipping most of my OK weapons (except my WOR because I was afraid to move it) and having the pet quickly deleted - along with all my equipped BD items - because of what Neo deemed an innapropriate name (named after the hoochie coochies, their own disease!). Which I eventually got back and resulted in me having 5 pets, but that's another story ...
Oh, let's see here....

I joined when I was 10 years old, right around the middle of the tyrannian war. Hard to believe it was 7 years ago. At the time, I was so new I didn't even know that battling required weapons, I thought that using my "fierce attack" and such would let me win the battles. I remember fighting some korbat, (IIRC, it's called korbat raider, or just tyrannian korbat.) that was equipped with rings of fire. Beat me dozens of times. I remember looking all over for the rings of fire; I wanted one so badly... but it cost way more money than I had.

then came the lost Desert war... Brucey B and the Lucky coin and all that. I got 13 points in this war, yet I can't even remember the name of the challenger. This is also the only war I ever fought the boss in; and the rock beast didn't really look all that impressive, especially compared to the bosses of the more recent wars.

After the lost desert war, I made several new accounts, and so was in exactly the same boat when Meridell 1 rolled around. This time I knew to grab basic weapons, and scored 13 points. I loved that darkling avatar, with the only two I like more being the virtupets card tournament one (which I have on the same account) and the Tyrannia/Haunted woods stamp avatars.

Between Meridell one and two, I really got into battling. I found idb, started learning how to make money and bought the lab maps (cost around 200k for a set when I got it, which was much harder to get than it is now) started training, and got a real nubset; six iconers, dual duties, a healer, the works. I scored 50 wins against the spiders and stopped there. Never was online for a skieth, and I couldn't beat an eyrie guard. I stopped at 50 points. Probably could've gotten to 65 or so, but I wanted a milestone. If I had gone on, I would've wanted 100 and I couldn't make that.

HaTIC came out. I was finally a 55 booster, around 70 HP. Scored 386 points here, and would've made 400 if I'd had the time. I must have spent hours in the school library maxing out. I was using a defensively oriented set here, and I beat all my friends score wise Wink

CoM came around. 700 points here for the pirates. Still a 55 booster, and in rank one but with a better set than HaTIC Smile. Not much to say anymore since most people remember this war.

I took a long break from neo after this; probably around two years long. I missed all the plot-wars and such, and didn't come back until a bit before JLI. I went from being in the era of 6 iconers, with a scuzzys comb costing 750k and an RSB 1.1 million, and H4k Helm being around 2.5 mill and no one even considering the fpot because of how much more expensive it was, to the situation we see today. Shattered's the one who got me adjusted Smile

Now, I'm an 85 booster on my way to the 125 boost. I've got a 100% freezer for the first time, and my set/onhand/stocks total up to about 10 million net worth. I've been playing for a long time, but have never been a particularly rich or lucky player. I do enjoy the game though, most of the time, and the RoS plot looks so far to be a step in the right direction for TNT as far as plot battling goes Smile
I joined in Meridell I, but didn't garner enough points to keep the avatar... then I joined Meridell II, The Thieves Guild thing and the CoM... I might have joined in others but I can't really seem to remember...
Missed the Tyrannian War because I joined neopets few months after it. After that I was in the middle of Lost Desert War confused. I realised something big was happening but I didnt have any experiences with the war. At that time, i have pets with beginner stats (I never train my pets at that time) and only equipped myself with any beginner weapons i can get (Sword of domar, millions degree sword, etc) thinking that all weapon should be the same. So, as I was thinking of doing my job to protect neopia and its innocent citizens, I joined the fray Smile. After being slaughtered couple of times, I try to get a snowball which proved to be a good idea. While i was waiting for my pet to be healed up, the challengers were eliminated (in the LD war, there were limited number of challengers like what happened in Tyrannian War and Meridell War II). At least I got 1 win which is more than enough to earn me a LD War trophy.

Since then I am involved in all wars and plot that involves battles until now.
Well for my war/plot experience:
CoM and before: Missed out on. Wasn't around.
Lost Desert: I just started the site, so I didn't get to do it.
Tale of Woe: I started Battledoming then.
Journey to the Lost Isle: Hated it. And I also hated the limited opponents and how one of them was potentially impossible to lose to.
This plot: Can't say too much right now.
But I can say this: Kill limits are terrible.
I've been playing on Neopets since 2001, but I've never been much of a BD'er. Or so I thought. Going back to my lookup, I see that I got 24 points in the first Meridell war, so apparently even back then I experimented with the BD a bit. I'm pretty sure I must've gotten those points with an Attack Fork, an Immense Rubber Axe of Doom, and a few sticky snowballs. (I still have both the AF and the IRAoD, which I keep on my non-battling pets for old times' sake.)

I took part in every war since in at least a minor way, since I'm a completist when it comes to plots, but I still don't really consider myself a skilled BD'er.

I remember spending everything I had for a Sinsi's Sword, which is kind of a laughable weapon now but which was my pride and joy for literally years. I think that must be how I got to be a 58-point "scoundrel" in HatIC -- I remember being very disappointed that I didn't get to a nice round 60. I'm sort of OCD about my win counts!

I also made it to 108 points in the Curse of Maraqua plot because my pet was only rank 1; my heart bleeds for those of you who got shafted by that, because even a casual gamer like me found rank 1 very easy to play.

Today my pride and joy is my RotL, which I earned fair and square in the Lost Desert plot. That plot basically consumed my life for weeks and weeks and even if 20-icon weapons become Tombola prizes I will never, ever get rid of it. Smile
There are some really fascinating stories here!

I don't think I had a clue what was going on in the first meridell war. By the second, I knew enough to sign up and most likely used my trusty sword of dormar, and since my pet was semi-demi-godly, surely thought I'd do well. I indeed squished a few spiders - which *was* an improvement from the last war.

I decided that perhaps semi-demi-godly was not enough to battle effectively, and the cheapest, and most fun for me method of training would be to use the lab ray. And the zapping commenced. (I'd be a lot further along had I not decided I liked certain colors and started zapping other pets for long periods of time)

I rather liked the Hannah and the Ice Caves plot. From what I remember, you got to choose your side and battle as an adventurer or a thief, but when the gelert turned "good" and we had to battle the bringer, it was all of neopia against him and his minions. By that time I'd at least gained a leaf shield and improved my battledome weapon. It was a great improvement!

By the time the curse of maraqua plot rolled out, I'd improved a bit, but still enough to qualify for rank 1. I don't remember much of the plot, since I was out of town for most of it. I'm thankful that I was able to get on and battle on at least one day, so I got a spiffy trophy and the sidebar.

When lost desert rolled out, it didn't have much for the battledome, but I really enjoyed the plot - I found it very engaging. When I got a Ring of the Lost, I finally realized why the scarab rings weren't going to cut it for me. I started slowly improving my battle set. It's still not all that great, but it's the journey, not the destination, right?

Tale of woe and the Lost Isle were fun, but there was something different about them. However, I finally felt like I accomplished what I decided back when I was squishing spiders - I wouldn't be knocked out by the lowest tier of battle enemies! Plus, I cleaned up selling all of those health potions I'd stored in my sdb for years Big Grin

On a side note - one of my guildmembers also has the redeemed avatar, and no other avatar or trophy from meridell - or any plot prior to altador actually XD. (I think he chose sides and didn't do anything else)
