Saw this just now at the Space Station, is it a run of the mill sort of thing -- or a possible clue? Suspect the former, hope for the latter. . .

Usually any battling waits until the middle to end. (When did the battling in JLI start?)
Part 3 is out, now. It's being presented pretty well.

Eh, I think the Plot is moving along fine. Like Rift said, it's showing really good signs of a possible war (citing this plot as a continuation of the previous Sloth WAR). Usually, battling doesn't start until like Ch. 7. It's still way too early to tell.
Also there're elections on this days...
But ch. 3 in about a week is a nice pace if you ask me.
