care to write the editorial with a question about it?
or about how batteling in plots has changed, and what made them decide that things don't work?
I finished the modifier puzzles! They don't require any higher math, per se, and I used one of the many charts out there (neopets.com has said charts are fine, codebuster calculators are not). I just googled "neopets modifier 3" and looked until I found a well laid out set. Basically, I did it by using the 3 modifiers that would equal the left most target symbol in the string (Key + mod 1 + mod 2 + mod 3 = Target). There was no easy way to do it but just do EVERY combination. It took me about 4 or 5 hours. Sometimes I'd find the right combo in 10 - 15 minutes, I think the longest took 45 minutes. I didn't have to solve all 20 problems, I think there were at least 4 puzzles left (you need to solve them until the message from Commander G. shows up), and of course, its random if you find it right away or not.
Yes, a 9 year old could do this, once they were shown the charts and explained the process. I don't know what their level of patience would be, I'm an adult and I avoided this puzzle until today and seriously had considered not participating at all once I heard the reports of how tedious this puzzle was... so... having done so... it is just tedium, keeping track of the code patterns one has tried, and of course - reading one or more help sheets that have good charts (all "legal") until one understands the process enough to do it.
*collapses* Supposedly future puzzles will get harder!?!? (I did most of the Haunted Woods plots until the potions... I can't believe they threw in such a tedious one so soon in the Sloth plot!)
I'm going to school fulltime... its only because I had my homework done that I even bothered to blow most of an entire day. I do have a real life! I do! I do!

Chapter 9 of the comic is out!
Another reference to Star Wars?

That is said once in every Star Wars movie.

Then you were extremely lucky.

It's also said in virtually all media.

There was no luck involved. Using the charts, there were (for 3 mods without the "0" symbol) only 8 or 9 combinations of first letters that would work (there are LOTS of charts out there with this info on it). Working systematically through each combination took about 8 minutes each... the "luck" was only in which combination to start with... once I got lucky and hit it on a 2nd of 8 combinations (8 min X 2 combinations = 16 min), another time within the 1st of 8 combinations...on the "unlucky" ones I hit it on the 6th or 7th combination (8 min X 6 combos = 48 min).
The other piece of luck is that I only had to solve 16 out of 20 puzzles before I found the Commander G. message.
It was a lot of work, and it requires keeping mental track of all the combinations tried (I made minimal notes on a piece of paper), but once in the right groove, the time sort of just stood still for about 4 or 5 hours.

Hey guys, I don't see a Space Faerie Token anywhere on SW or TP. I've seen one in a Space Faerie Gallery, but that's about it. Perhaps this item has relevance to the plot? Perhaps this item will be re-released for other players and be upgraded?
Just my thoughts.

What about for the ones with Orn symbol, since those were the only ones that really mattered? (After all, you only had to solve one 3-mod without the Orn symbol in order to do the ones with the Orn symbol.)

Given the extremely low number of them, they won't have relevance to the plot. (How many of the one thing that was required in Mystery Island Plot were in existence?) Very doubtful it'll be upgraded (when was the last time we saw an upgrade?), but we might see more released since it's r101 instead of r180.

Those took about the same amount of time, even tho there were about 12 combinations to work through. Mostly because I usually found it in try #8 out of 12 _and_ the the quirk was that some of the combinations (of the 12) I usually could eliminate at least 2 of them because they were impossible (ie: a "CVV" combo, but of there would be only 1 coded string starting with "V" and thus I could eliminate the CVV right away, etc). So - as daunted as I first was by the 3-mod that had the "O" added, they were about the same amount of time/work in the end as any regular 3-mod.
I'm a tad math phobic, but capable of being logical and methodical... and that is really the only skill needed for this puzzle once one had the charts in hand! I say this mostly as encouragement because I almost didn't bother to continue with this plot and it ended up being tollerable.

One was lost when my account was wiped some time back, just so you guys know. :/ And Tagobo Potions are/were <1k.

Have weapons ever been upgraded? (Golden Sun Chalice's moment in the sun doesn't count, methinks)
There have been wep upgrades plenty of times... just one that springs to mind, SOS was originally DGed, then re-upgraded again to it's current state, all shortly after it's release.
