Just a question...

I remember that tnt had unlocks a plot step/puzzle on weekends but thats an exception, not the rule. Do you think they will unlock something this weekend (besides the "save your family" step). Do you think next step (not comic chapter) will be released next wednesday?

I highly doubt it, but I AM expecting a new comic (not plot step) next Monday.

Yeah, I think we need at least a few more days to allow those stuck on the Mod puzzles to catch up...

Of course, my opinion is likely because I'm still stuck there. Toungue
well, i finally caught up

just in time for me to catch up with everything else in life on the weekend, and then maybe more monday night
If anyone's interested, potential plot spoilers are in the spoiler below.

I'd like to see my first war, just to know what it's like. All the long time battledomers speak of it as if its heaven for battlers Toungue

I cracked my codes though. Hopefully that will increase my chances of a decent prize? All the plots i've done had nothing special Toungue

Despite all the hype, there's a lot of complaining during wars (a lot of the wars also had significant problems: limited opponents and ranks, to name the two big ones). Otherwise, though, they're the pinnacle of One Player battling. They're the time when pushing yourself to the absolute and past matters. Sure, you're not going to walk away with a good prize, but you'll have that war story to tell the grandn00bs.

The other thing worth noting was that everyone on the site got in on wars. Sure, a lot of newbies are sad (and apparently complaining nowadays) that they didn't do well, but it inspires several of them to become BDers. IDB might not look it now, but there was a time when if you were gone for a couple of days the forums would have a whole new set of threads when you got back. That's how big the Battledome was, and wars were a huge part of it.

To keep this on-topic: several of my non-battler friends have been saying that TNT needs to release opponents this plot so they can vent their anger after step two by beating the crap out of some of Sloth's troops.

As far as prizes go: we saw RotL from LDP, which was the first "major" plot puzzle. The only other event to result in awesome BD prizes was the first Altador Cup (with Yooyuball Player Sling and Yooyuball Keepers Chest Guard). AAA broke the trend of "new things giving great BD prizes" by giving away that one book to the best players.

Based on that precedent (AP, ToW, JLI, AC2: this less so than the others), I'd say we get crap for this plot. Which is going to massively wizz off every user who did step two fairly.

This is absolutely true. I joined Neo just before the first Meridell war. My pet had crappy stats, I didn't know about IDB, and I thought the Snow Mudball was the best weapon ever. I only scored 14 points, but I had a lot of fun doing it.

I was so clueless about weapons that I never even scored a single win in the first Meridell War... About wars not giving out good prizes, I'm pretty sure that wasn't the case for the first Meridell War. Lisha's Wand comes to mind, that was a nice wep. I can't remember what else they gave out but I'm pretty sure some of it was decent.

Shattered's right about what wars are like though... still one of my fondest memories of battling was finally managing to score a win on the War Machines with my 53 HP pet (I guess that would have been Meridell 2). It's hard otherwise to get much motivated for 1p battling and the lengthy slog to get close to maxed out. Loss of wars is why I haven't played the game nearly as much the past 2 or 3 years, and almost entirely disappeared at time. That said, it's not so much that they're that great, it's mostly that not having them really sucks.
I didn't say wars don't give out good prizes: I just said that you (referring to basically everyone reading) wouldn't get a good prize. Only the high-end scorers get good weapons, though. However, I've got my Pet about as prepped as I can to push one of the high scores if we ever see a war again (though I'm at a huge disadvantage statistically).

I was considering making a war nostalgia thread... perhaps I should.
Well, see, the first Meridell War I think actually gave weps that were useful even for the people who got them, and even made the war worthwhile and profitable. That's what I meant by good weapons.

EDIT: Good idea with the war nostalgia thread. Although, there won't be too many posters, as there aren't too many of us left really...
