Full Version: Balancing training and saving

I'm currently saving for a 100% freezer that doesn't break. And to help me along, I put training on the back burner (unless it's a faerie quest).

Since my Shoyru is level 23, the current cost of training is 2 codestones or 5 Dubloons, and I make an average of 12,800 np per day. And since my Shoyru is painted Royal, I'm not going to zap him.

The problem is that, at 12,800 per day, it'll take approximately 1 and a half years to save enough (at the estimated price of 7.5 million). That's a long time to hold off training.

I get most of my money from restocking (Though I do it differently than most), and some flash games, as well as dailies. I also snipe with the Super Shop Wizard. I also have invested in stocks, and make some NP off of there as well.

So how can I balance it out so I can train my pet, without taking a really long time to get the freezer?
That's a question everyone is trying to answer for themselves LOL.... Since you've already have a diversified income(stocks, restocks, snipes, and games), I'd just say that you should expand on what you're doing to generate more income. You answered your own question by saying you want a 7.5 mill weapon and make 12,800 a day - to reach your goal in a faster time period you'd have to either increase income (play more games or expand your sniping list of items are 2 examples) or lower your expectations for your next weapon....
Yeah just by playing a few more games you can easily make anywhere from 15-30k from games alone, (remember sponsor games normally pay better) then restocking, and sniping can make quite a lot of money if done properly. I recommend restocking in some of the lesser stores just to know that you'll get something even if the profit is only a few thousand np's, things like chocolate store and toy store and such (though in the toy store you can get quite a few things that are worth a lot.) Also as darwin said make sure your attempting to snipe a variety of items, lab maps, neggs, codestones, dubloons, petpet paint brushes, etc. Also you could try refreshing if you have the patience and the luck.
My primary stores are toy and chocolate stores, though my method doesn't get me high rarity items all the time. And you can't snipe lab map pieces or petpet paint brushes with the SSW.
The only way is to increase your income. An hour of your time and 10 games will give you a guaranteed 30k a day. Go here for some of them:
NP Ratio finally changed
That's funny. Maybe you're not taking the full potential of restocking. Nowadays, I make an average of 30-50k/day from restocking, and occasionally 100k+. Several times I have made a few hundred thousand a day, or even once, 6mil. And stock market is the easiest way. It isn't stable, but over the long run I make 45k+/day.
Take your 12k a day and buy 750 stocks of a stock company that is at 15
I don't know if you're a 1p or 2p battler, but if your 1p, then forget the freezer and spend all your money on training. 7.5 million will get you along way, and those stats will make you far stronger than a freezer would. Even if you do 2p you might want to consider training.
I am also encountering that problem on a larger scale...the only cost efficient way for me to train is kquesting. but it costs me about 80-100k a day on kquesting. I also make about 80k a day through malling. So as a result, it's difficult for me to save. What I do, is train less! Although I don't like it, I only do kquests on days I make more than 80k...so since I'm a RSer (the normal type? I think your RSing is just buy cheap items and sell for a few thousand more but at a profit, right?), if I get a 50k in RSing then, I'll do my kquests and save the rest...

so as you can see, your income just has to be greater than your training cost, then the remainder can go to saving. If you really want the freezer. only train if you have made more than the cost of training. If oyu haven;t, then don't train.
Your options are:

1. Wait a year and a half.

2. Find some method to increase your income.

3. Give up on getting a freezing potion. Either give up on the non-fragile freezer entirely or morph into a Lenny, Chia or Peophin. (the savings on the species freezer is greater than the cost of a royal PB).

Personally, I think #2 is your best option, but you'll have to find methods that work for you (I'm currently in the same boat at a higher level, trying to improve my investing to increase my income so I can eventually train to pace the lab ray). Since you're also concerned about training, I strongly suggest that you pursue the positive income training methods: Coltzan's Shrine, Turmaculous, maybe Scratchcards (not sure on the current odds there). You'll want to K-Quest, but at your income and stats, you'll want to pass on something like 95% of them. Just remember that the average K-Quest payout is worth around 1800 NP + about a 1/3 chance of a useful stat. So do any K-quest that you complete for under 1800 and you will have a net gain in income while also gaining stats.
Yes, I can completely sympathise with you on this issue, I trained for over a year before I figured out that I didn't have anything worthwhile in my set for 2 player battling. Now I have to stick with 1 player because anyone at my pet's level would have a set that would crush mine. It's going to take me a long time to dig myself out of that hole.

I can give you one bit of good news - I got an H4000 helmet two days ago for "only" 6.8 M. I did this by checking the auctions. When people want a quick sale, they will post an auction with a very large increment, so that the first person that bids will get a good price, and no one else will want to bid afterwards. That saved me at least 200K NPs.

Also, make sure you do all your dailies. Hitting the fruit machine for a faerie paint brush can make you a couple million overnight! It does happen! Good luck!
