Phew. I was scared for you for a minute there.
Whereas I've only watched three(?) animes extensively. I had a really positive opinion of Masaru right off the bat, partially because he reminded me so much of a character I was going to write about a year and half back (that I never got around to working on, though I'd outlined most of it).
Junpei wouldn't have been an effective leader: no motivation. And he isn't as over-the-top as Masaru is. Screen time... I should get bored at some point and test that theory.
Ugh, I can't even watch the Yu-Gi-Oh! dub anymore. The GX dub didn't seem particularly bad from what I watched, but I don't really care for GX enough to go finding out what it was meant to be.
So you're only counting main characters,
. I guess Tamers was able to pair all of its characters, as sick as Takato x Ruki would have been...

), have never really satisfied me where pairings are concerned, but other aspects salvaged them, thus being devoid of said aspects, Savers would have been salvaged instead by a decent pairing. I can think of many a bad anime that kept me glued thanks to a cute pairing.
Course by the end of it I wanted to shove the dual disk down Jaden's throat for each "Get your game on!" Quite shocking since as I've said before, I generally detest dubs.
