So, now NC Mall apparel gives you an advantage over other users when it comes to a certain trophy Unless, of course, TNT is willing to make two separate spotlights - one for pets with any NC Mall items, and one with only tradeable clothes. Doubt they will, though, seeing as the NC Mall spotlight wouldn't be able to have any non-trophy prizes and it wouldn't cause as much incentive for people to spend real money on clothes.

I motion that we all vote 1 for every pet wearing any NC Mall items once the voting actually starts. If enough of us do that, maybe it'll force TNT to split up the spotlight.

Well, this may come as a shock to everyone, but it doesn't bother me at all. Nobody's said you need NC Mall items to win; in fact, a lot of people find the animation gaudy and annoying. I know I wouldn't vote for a pet just because it has NC mall clothes on, and I doubt I'm alone. Neo has been releasing a lot more clothes for just neopoints lately, too -- it seems that every time they update the news, there's a new clothing item. And we all know this will come down to who has the most time to troll the boards for votes, anyway, just like the beauty contest. It's just another spotlight for me to ignore.

Actually, the voting structure will apparently be such that you don't know the name of the pet you're rating. You get 100 random pets to rate, no getting to pick and choose (supposedly). Meaning that trying to get your friends to vote your pet a 10 really won't help much.

Also, there are far more nice, unanimated clothes in the NC Mall than there are in normal shops (it doesn't help that almost all of the new np clothes being released are species-specific). You don't need NC Mall items to win, but depending on the species of your pet, it'll help hugely :[

That's not so bad, though -- every species still has paint brush clothes (for example, I can make a pretty neat-looking kyrii already, seeing as my lab one has been island and halloween), so there are those and all the "wearable by all species" items so far. I agree that pets who have already had a pet day do have an advantage, but soon enough all species will have pet day clothing and that advantage will disappear (they probably should have held off on releasing the spotlight until then, actually, but eh). I guess we'll see if it's always NC mall-clothed pets that win, or if there are enough people out there who don't think you should be able to buy votes and who pick people who are rich the old-fashioned way -- with neopoints -- instead.

err... Cran, the animated part is for flash, for the png it's not animated, I think the entered version is the png one. And most background from the ncmall (and background/foreground items) are better than the buyable version... so they (ones from nc malls) are more eye catching than the buyable ones

but yea, can't disagree with the 'rich' wins... since royal pb offer most 'gorgeous' clothes, and the buyable clothes are expensive...

and isn't the spotlight is based on species (instead of overall only, so like the bc?)

question though, will it change as you change the customisation or once entered it won't changable anymore ?

and I also see a problem arise : how can two pets or more with exactly same clothing being differentiated? or if one win, then the other win as well ?

sorry for the poor grammars, long time not being here I think it's shameful to 'switch' interest in neopets from bd to clothes, I've spent a lot for clothing and 0 for training

If it does end up being the png that's entered, that might actually help people who haven't bought NC Mall clothes and backgrounds -- a lot of the flashiness of those comes from the meepit hat's eyes moving, the snowager's head coming into frame in his background, the tiara twinkling, whatever. If all pics are static, that does make it a little fairer.

I'm not sure if it's by species or just overall -- if it's by species, that also makes things better, because pets with pet day clothes are only going up against each other instead of pets with just all-species clothes. I dunno. I'm just going to wait and see before I complain.

Most of the pets look stupid. >.< I can't beleive the amount of pets with just a potato sack...
