I got my braces off this morning! Yay! And no scarring! My teeth are smooth, white, and straight. Definite cause for celebration

...'Course, now I have two retainers, and can't pronounce a whole slew of sounds. At first try, ssss, duh, juh, ch, nuh, tuh, sh were all beyond me. I spent about an hour reading out loud, though, and now I'm at least intelligible, thank goodness. My goal is to have most of the speech problems eliminated before I leave for college...in a week

Plus to having retainers, though: My little sister asked why I was speaking funny, and I popped out my bottom retainer. She freaked out. Hee.

I had a plastic mould retainer to wear at night for two years. It was a bit rubbish

But are your retainers wire ones? Because my plastic ones actually prevented any normal speech. But not speaking much at night, it might have just been lack of practice.

But either way, you can eat apples and corn on the cob again now! Yaaaay!

Personally, mine have been on for four years, and show no signs of giving up their hold on my teeth as of yet.

I hate to sound strange, but I always thought braces made a kiss into an interesting experience, but having them off seems to be a thrill, heres a toast to no more dental work until the wisdom teeth

Yeah, sadly, I didn't miss the apples and corn anyhow. Or gum. Or...wait, why would anyone eat a mango seed? o_0 At least now I'll be able to eat popcorn without my mom yelling at me
