Screenies from Cran's side of the test:

Anyone have any ideas how to test for certainty in 1p?
Just ignore my random weapon set. I know I don't need all that dark defense. Wink

We tested with me clicking first and then rabid clicking first, and that didn't change anything.
Wow! It's useless! Tell me something I didn't already know. Toungue

EDIT: 1P testing? Anyone have a Tornado Ring lying around? Steal all but one weapon, then change it into a fire sword?
as if it wasn't bad enough. Toungue

the only real way to test it for certainty is trying it out against a couple different opponents over and over again. =/ Try it out in 2-p a few more times, maybe you got unlucky and got it not to do anything for 2 or 3 turns in a row since it has a percent chance
It may not actually be useless, and I was motivated to do this testing based on evidence of some potentially strong 1p applications.

T-Ring is no help for testing as both count as stealing weapons so you cannot equip both. The best I can come up with is using it against an opponent with few weapons and then defending for a large number of rounds, noting what they use - but that wouldn't be conclusive.

Oh that's right, it counts as a stealing weapon... Anything with mostly one-use items (Giant Ghostkerchief?)
Wow, I wonder when this got changed. Last I knew it still worked wonders in 2P. Good to see it's worthless now.

I'm not sure if you'll ever get anything definitive out of 1P battling if the "non-weapon" equips many of them have can be changed by the Fire Whip. If they can't though, the Quasalan Mummy looks like a good bet, only has 3 weak-ish weapons after using Jade.
Since frostbite only has one real "constant," you can try exhausting all her weapons but the scepter and then using the whip

Sometimes, it gives a generic "you hit ___ with your fire whip" type of message and does two fire. Sometimes it does two fire and breaks for the battle. And sometimes it says it turns your opponent's weapon into a fire sword or trumpet of blasting (but it actually doesn't). It's a percentage chance of getting the third result at all, not a percentage chance of getting the third result and then an extra percentage chance of it actually doing what it says.
Well the KingElephante23 petpage currently has screenies of it working. So either this was just a brief bug that Cran and I ran into, or whether the transform works depends on some other factor such as the Int or levels of the pets involved.

EDIT It worked against my pet

Best theory is that it works against low Intelligence pets, but not high Int pets, as the pets on the KingElephante petpage are "dull" and "bright" and my pet is only "genius", whereas Cran's pet has 409 intelligence.

This does confirm that it can hit slots other than the first, and gives stronger evidence of it working in 1p.

I'm going to leave it up to others to try to narrow down a more precise range for the Intel which renders the transform ineffective.

But we're not all that interested in testing to find the intelligence cutoff, so if anyone else wants to, you can be our guest. Wink
