I'm currently using a Windows XP, but I'm going to get a Windows Vista soon, probably in the coming couple of days. I've heard that some people cannot play Maple Story on Vista, whilst others can.

I'm wondering what I need to do on my new Vista before I can play Maple Story. Oh and for those of you "helpful" people out there, I know that I'll need to download it first thank you very much.

The operating system I'm going to use is Windows Vista Home Premium. It has a 250GB hard drive and 1GB RAM, if that helps.

EDIT: Maybe some of you Vista users will be able to help me more than the others.
Run it in compatibility mode.
Thanks GIR, but how would I change it to compatibility mode?
Right-click the executible or a shortcut to it, choose "Properties," and select the "Compatibility" tab. Then just select Windows XP from the dropdown list. That is, assuming that Windows Vista has that feature in common with Windows XP (which I can only assume it does).
I don't run mine in compatability mode, I just choose to run it as an administrator and I have no problems.
Okay thanks for the help. I'll see if I can get it to work when I install Maple Story and come back if it doesn't.
There is a slight chance that it may glitch up, and stop running Maple. So I think it would be best if you toggled between those two modes.
Thanks for all the help so far. My new computer is arriving tomorrow, but I'll probably only be able to Maple the day after because it's arriving in the late afternoon and I'll have to install the Operating System and everything else needed before I can Maple. I tried Mapling on my parents' Vista and it had a pop-up about compatibility problems. I checked "Never show me this message again", clicked "OK" and it seemed to be running fine. Would that be another solution or is it not a good idea?
i have a wondows vista home premium and when i downloaded maplestory on it , a couple of days later i got a virus......and had to reboot my computer
So you're saying Maplestory running on Vista was fine for you, but you had to re-download it when you restored your computer? Maplestory hasn't been responsible for any viruses. As long as you make sure to download it from Nexon's site, it'll be clean.
It seems like Maple Story works fine on my new Windows Vista. The compatibility pop-up came up and after checking the "Never show me this message again" and clicking "OK", it loaded. It was slightly messed up in the beginning because the whole Maple Story was sort of moved to the left, but then I tabbed out and it auto-adjusted to fit my new monitor, which is 2 inches bigger than my previous one.

One thing though, is there a way I can disable the message which comes up saying "An Unidentified Program Wants Access to Your Computer" and then I have to click "Cancel" or "Allow". Can I disable that somehow?
