"Hey…Rob?"
"Yeah?"
"If you want me to stay away from you during Prefrosh weekend, I will."
"No, it's fine. Why would I want that?" Surprise, confusion, concern -- everything she had worried wouldn't exist was in Rob's voice. Her fear melted away instantly, replaced by her original feeling of giddy excitement.
"So, you’ll introduce me to all the cool people you know?"
"Yeah, sure." Not sarcasm. Sincerity.
Sarah smiled. She had been so silly to think that Rob would ever be ashamed of knowing her...



Sarah wanted to scream at him. She wanted to shout and rage until he understood just how hurt she was feeling. She wanted him to apologize and explain and promise never to do it again. She wanted --
He answered.
"Hi, Rob."
"Hey."
It took a good deal of self-control to keep from blowing up at him, but somehow, she managed.
"So, what did you think of Prefrosh weekend?"
"It was pretty good. Cool people."
"What did you think of Pasedena?"
"Pretty nice."
The meaningless conversation continued. Sarah wasn't sure what she was expecting -- for him to explain his actions? For him to tell her why he had made her feel so miserable and alone for three straight days? For him to say anything, absolutely anything, that would defuse her anger?
She snapped.
"Rob, why the freaking heck didn't you freaking acknowledge my freaking existence the whole freaking weekend?"
He hung up.

Sounds like a glorified, clichéd, version of the parts of life I (kinda unsuccessfully) try to avoid. Nice nonetheless
