It was just announced on Thursday (London Time) that the 7th and final installment of the decade-long Harry Potter series would be released on July 21, 2007. The name was also announced in a press conference: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Discuss!

*The announcement of the title was actually released on JKR's website in a hangman puzzle on December 21, 2006.
Finally the end of a great nook series but I wonder how he managed to end this.

I'm going to stay away from online multiplayer games and forums other than IDB before its release. There's going to be soooo many people posting spoilers, especially since it's the last book.

That title makes no sense. Unless it refers to some group of people in the book or something? Even then...it still makes no sense.

Offtopic: Yay for 1337'th post ^_^
Spaz, just do what I did with Half-Blood Prince. Stake out, and get your copy at Barnes and Nobles (Borders suxorz). Read it all in 1 sitting, and then nothing will be spoiled!

I actually didn't know what "hallows" meant. At first, I thought it was a tree-description sort of word.. So I went to dictionary.com:

Quote:1. To make or set apart as holy.
2. To respect or honor greatly; revere

Iono.. I kind of feel it might be some kind of redemption.. Does Voldy have a Deathly [Redemption].

I haven't read any spoilers (don't even think any are out..), so everything I say is just hypothesizes.

It's way too much reading for 1 sitting. For me, that would kill the enjoyment of it, unless I actually can't put it down and want to read it in 1 sitting.

The definition you quoted is a verb. "hallows" in the title would be a plural noun...unless "deathly" is a noun and not an adjective or adverb like I'm thinking. If that was the case, it would be like "deathly greatly honors [something]". But what the heck is deathly? And what are you talking about with redemption?

I think the word "the" in the title rules out the above case. So I stand by my original conclusion, it makes no sense.
I'm pretty excited about this. I will be gone on my roadtrip during that time but I will probably buy the book, stop in some park or something and read it all day long Toungue
Quote:[21:10] <Spaz> Heh, when I first saw Kage's Harry Potter topic, I almost thought it would be about the Daniel Radcliffe thing

Since you're never on IRC, I guess I'll just ask here. What Daniel Radcliffe thing??

I REALLLY hope Hermione doesn't get killed off... That would ruin the HP series for me.. Sad

He's the guy who plays Harry in the movies. He'll be starring in the play called Equus. Don't want to say any more here. And I wasn't on IRC much of yesterday because my connection is junk. Closedeyes
Since Spaz won't say it..

He posed with his birthday suit for a photoshoot Wink
Harry Potter is the definiton of overrated. I can't say I'm looking forwards to this book too much.
I hope the ending for this mess will not look so forced Dead

And the spoilers will exist, like the "OMG! (insert name here) killed (insert other name here)!!!!"
