Yeah, I'm thinking it won't affect Neopets.com itself, just the company (Neopets, Inc. or whatever they are). It sounds like they'll develop other online gaming sites ("virtual world gaming experiences" -- interesting) while also continuing to update Neopets.
Hmm I'm dissapointed that they did not go into more detail. It says neopets will TRANSFORM into neostudio. I really don't like the sound of that. Hopefully the game itself will not be affected too much.
Considering how things have been going lately, perhaps they are going to TRANSFORM like...this....

In other news, "which will focus on developing new virtual world gaming experiences online" is way too broad a description.
I'm really itching to see what this transformation will result in.
On the bright side, with how good Neopets is at sticking to deadlines, I'll bet we don't see anything new at the end of 2008. So, if it's a bad change, we'll have to wait until halfway through 2009 to deal with it.

I'd bet it just means the company itself, Neopets, Inc., will transform -- I can't see them changing the name of the actual virtual pet site, not after all these years, and not when so many people know its name. I'm hoping this change won't have much of an effect on Neo at all. The company can go ahead and make five other petsites/virtual worlds if they want to; I won't play them.
