ok, feeling like a noob (which I am in this case

)...
What is it?
How would/might it impact the JLI plot?
Is it even BD oriented?
Tell my why I should / should not be interested.
I've seen it mentioned a few times (references to last years), but have no idea what it is - Neopedia entry makes it sound like a dodgeball game.... I'm sooooo confused
... ok, read some old threads from last year - seems like you play a flash game over and over to accumulate wins.... I'm not seeing the interference with the JLI plot or the BD interest... Are the prizes the connection?
Well, the general theory is that TNT will end the current plot before the second Altador Cup starts, because they wouldn't want two major events going at the same time.
Basically, the Altador Cup was an event where you chose a team and then played a flash game to score points for your side. Each goal you scored (I think) counted towards your final score, which you could then use to buy prizes. You also got a certain trophy depending on whether you were on the winning team or 2nd place team at the end, and whether you had stuck with said team the entire time or switched midway. It wasn't BD-oriented at all.
God i remember idlely wasting my sumer playing that game...
...anyway, your team has five players, the object of the game is to score goals using the Yooyu (A petpet - i'm suprised PPL haven't already caused mass protest rallies against the sport...). The player can move around the pitch with the ball and can pass it to other players to score. There are four different types of ball which are (I'm not too sure on the effects):
-Fire Yooyu (Speeds up possessor)
-Snow Yooyu (Slows down possessor)
-Mutant Yooyu (Can travel in arcs (normally bad))
-Faerie Yoouyu (Often goes over the top of players)
Everytime a goal is scored the play is reset and a new ball is put into play (Each type of ball is supposed to be random, but fire + snow seem to come up much more often). Once the timer runs out for the game, the send score and replay buttons come up, sending your score adds it to the team score (Teams are normally different worlds like Tyrannia, Roo Island, Altador, Kreludor etc.). The competition is set up in a knock-out style, with the team your team is against as your opposing team in-game.
A word of advice if you want to get on the winning side is to do some research, last year Haunted woods came first, with Darigan second, so they may be good teams to choose when sign ups come, but you could always be original and choose a team you like (I chose Lost Desert, they're really cool).
If you want any other bits of information, i suggest you visit the Colleaseum in Altador (the place where it takes place). Also, there is NO way that the Mysterious Isle Plot will take place at the same time as the Altador Cup, as if it does, the trophies and rewards will take ages to sort out and i can easily predict a mass exuent of players in protest to the rewards delay.
What was the prize breakdown? Like what was the required number points for those shields? How hard were they to get? Any other good prizes?
10,000 points were needed for the sling. 5,000 for the Chest Guard. I have no idea how hard it was to obtain the weapons from the general public's point of view, but personally I averaged around 100 9-0 wins per round in the Cup, and only scored slightly more than what was needed for the Chest Guard.
As for other available prizes, Yooyus were very much in demand right after the prizes were released, as opposed to rapid deflation of Halloween PBs, which cost twice the number of points as the Yooyu. As you can see, Yooyus now command a rather pathetic price, while the PBs have returned to their usual cost. A stamp was available, as were a number of books, all costing less points than the above four prizes. Two books were only available to those who had stuck with the same team (DC/HW) through all four rounds, one for each side.
...sorry, just getting into the spirit. I joined this little underdog team last year and we made it to the final four! I'm totally going with RI again this year.

*cough*
You Rooligans knocked us out first round! Won't be the case this time around!
*lol*
Having had all my teams lose, with a total of over 2500 wins, I'm not sure I'm really gonna be able to get really exicited about my team this year. Anyways, my team banner:

.

somebody can say me the standings of past years? im a sports analyst on my free time and im sure i can predict this year winner
Haha, I found the banner I used after RI got eliminated and I had to join a new team:
I think I had more fun making banners than playing that game.

I have a better computer this year, though, so hopefully it won't be so slow and tedious.
shadownight,
here are the standings, although no one knows exactly how the point system works (it uses a weighted average of some sort), so it probably won't help you much.
