That's A Link to the Past, Wink. 'tis my favorite, and I had a chance to play through the original (and almost all of the second quest) long before I touched ALttP. (Two years, possibly?)

I'm in the minority that hated Link's Awakening, aren't I? I played (and owned) the DX version, and had the opportunity to mess with the dungeon-swimming glitch of the original. I don't remember why I disliked it so much, especially since it was a 2D Zelda (and I loved ALttP), but I don't remember feeling the game at all. I briefly played Season (I think it was seasons), and either didn't like it or had to give it back to the friend I was borrowing it from. I never touched Minish Cap because of the negative connotation my mind has to portable Zelda games.

As far as the "best" Zelda, it's Ocarina of Time, hands down. And not even because Twilight Princess shouldn't have ran the Twilight Realm the way they did. Rather, like Mario 64, the game set a precedent that won't be recaptured for at least another generation or two of consoles. The, "OMG, Zelda in 3D!" left a lasting effect that Twilight Princess wasn't able to recapture (the Wiimote controls were more gimmicky than anything, and there was too little Bow use).

Mind you, I loved Twilight Princess. Though I disliked how far it strayed from the core Zelda plot (not to mention my "what the heck?" reaction to portions of its plot). Also, was it my imagination, or was it distinctly easier than Ocarina of Time? (For that matter, wasn't it also a much lighter game, whereas Ocarina of Time felt darker?) What's sad is that I fondly remember struggling through each dungeon of Ocarina of Time, and clearly remember the Forest (the music and Poes were scary), Shadow (the whole place creeped me out, and did we even see Wallmasters in TP?), and Spirit Temples (so close yet so far from the end of the game when you don't know how to get to the boss room). All I remember from Twilight Princess was the crazy boss battle in the dungeon you get the Spinner (er, is that it's name?). Nothing else from TP really stands out in my memory.

Maybe it's just that I'm not a kid anymore.
OMG Wall Masters freaking freaked me out back then too XD Shadow Temple was freaking spooky Dead I stopped playing for a while JUST to keep from going there...

I agree with you we were all younger when we played OoT...I also found TP to be much easier than OoT, but reruns of OoT also get easier as I keep playing them. I also agree that the Zelda in 3-D had its affect as well, although I was too young to experience the other Zeldas much. I'm with you that OoT was definately a experience that was captured in my memory forever.

I'm also what parts of the plot were "what the heck?" to you? and how did it stray from the plot? I clearly saw a "Rescue Zelda and Beat up Ganon" surface Toungue This game felt a lot darker than OoT in my opinion...I mean...ZOMG twilight realm! its all dark and spooky Ohmy

Overall I think I just kinda reposted my oppinions from before O_O but yeah seeing shattered's posts, I just wanted to post again cuz zelda freaking pwns Toungue
Spoiler Warning: Twilight Princess spoilers included.

The "original" Zelda plot, which held true in both the original (NES) version and A Link to the Past, and also (to a lesser degree) in Ocarina of Time: Gannon(dorf) seized the Triforce of Power, and somehow (I don't think it's explained in A Link to the Past, but I'm not sure there were multiple Triforces in A Link to the Past) Link ended up with the Triforce of Courage, and Zelda with the Triforce of Wisdom. Gannon kidnaps Zelda, and it's up to Link to stop him. A Link to the Past (and Ocarina of Time) differed by having the Golden Realm (which is severely underplayed in Ocarina of Time), and both portrayed it differently. (In A Link to the Past, the Golden Realm was the Shadow World, and conformed to the will of the person that obtained the Triforce.) The Golden Realm doesn't seem to have any parallels to the Twilight Realm from Twilight Princess, at least directly, though the Golden Realm/Shadow World seems to be the inspiration. Back to the point, Link defeats Gannon and frees Zelda (as per almost every Zelda game). A Link to the Past introduced the seven sages (which were again used in Ocarina of Time), who were also needed to fight Gannon.

I'm not familiar with Adventures of Link, either Oracles game, Minish Cap, Majora's Mask, or Windwaker, but between the original, A Link to the Past, and Ocarina of Time, we saw different iterations of the "core" Zelda story. Twilight Princess might have been a continuation of Ocarina of Time (with the reasoning in my spoiler), but didn't follow much if any of the "core" story.

Also, when I say Ocarina of Time felt "darker," I'm referring to settings. The Well, Shadow Temple, and Forest Temple all gave me disturbed vibes. I don't recall experiencing that in Twilight Princess except perhaps when Link is first thrown into the Twilight Realm. Again, my memory of Twilight Princess is faint despite only playing it a few months ago, so I might just not be remembering properly.
I did not get the creepiness that I got from Ocarina of Time like you shattered.

I think A Link to the Past was the greatest imo. I did like Majora's Mask though it was not along the same plot line as the originals.

I did enjoy Twilight Princess...however from an original plot line sense. I was not. It just did not satisfy the next chapter with Zelda and Link for me.
