I'm seeing old ratings on some of the weapons, and they're saying that the weapon is more useful than it actually is nowadays. Okay, I understand that the weapon was probably that useful...at that time. Some weapons have had upgrades, downgrades, or better alternatives.
But, if we want the averages to reflect how useful a weapon is in today's battledome, we need to delete or redo some of the ratings that are from 2005 or older. That will help the ratings reflect how useful (or not useful) the weapon actually is in the Battledome today, not how it was way back when.
I don't think you should delete them because some of them still have good strategy and alternative/defense information, rather than just a rating of the weapon on price/similar weapons' prices...
Maybe just give a warning or reduce the significance of the old ratings on the overall rating of the weapon.
They're kept for nostalgia. Raters are able to edit their old ratings if they choose to, but most leave them around for the battlers that would like to take some time to reminisce about old times.
The numberical ratings mean very little: just pay attention to what the raters actually say about the weapons. (Keeping track of the dates doesn't hurt either.)

If you see any weapons that seem really out of date and don't have any recent ratings on them, feel free to PM me (or any of the other raters) about it.
That won't help with the overall averages, but it will help us keep the info up to date and useful to the public.
The old weapons have dates on them and they appear underneath all the newer ratings -- you can easily tell they're out of date. We leave them around so we have a sort of record of the BD... which items used to be considered top weapons, what prices used to be like, icon number changes, all that stuff. They're a very neat thing to have around.
Like rabid said, if any weapons need updated ratings, let us know and we'll add new ones.
I think the general population are quite aware of the changes in weapons from then and now.
We pay attention to what would suit our needs and and just skim over outdated old information.
We are pretty intelligent.
Thanks for the idea and reflection, however!
