Anyone planning on getting Etrian Odyssey? It's an oldschool first-person rpg with no automap except for marking squares you've been on. You can draw the walls in and mark spots with treasure and such using the stylus, or just go mapless if you can't be bothered. From what I hear, it's much harder than most rpg's, so if you don't take strategy seriously, you'll probably die. Another way it's a trip into the past is it lets you create the characters rather than giving you them.

It's certainly going to be a unique game and probably the kind that you either love or hate. I dunno if I'm going to get it; for one thing I'll be busy with Pokemon Pearl, and I woud be hesitant to spend money on a game I might not enjoy. I'll see what people say once it's out, and if I get bored with Pokemon I might give it a try.
Oh boy, I'm playing it right now, and it's pretty cool (despite the ugly monsters) It's a very classic RPG game, reminds me of old RPG games when you HAD to make your own maps in paper. You can have as many adventurers as you want, (just 5 in your "fighting team", tough) so you can make several parties for several tasks (killing magic-vulnerable monsters, choping down trees, sneaking quickly in dungeons...)

One of the things that I like of this game is it's difficulty level, but if when you know some tips and have a decent map work (It lets you keep your map when you die, so you won't hit the same trap twice) it gets easier, but challenging.

It lacks a deep plot for now, but I'm advancing slowy. Oh, did I mention that the maps are huge? Well, the maps are huge.
