Move : GREAT (22)
Intelligence : average

LAB RAT:
Species : Moehog
Colour : Mutant
Gender : Male

Ive been using my lab pet for battling but want more balanced stats so i created a codestone pet to do this. I kinda quit training for a while to put all my money in stocks so my lab pet has a big advantage.

My current set:

Obsidian Dagger
Ramtors Spellbook
Lesser Healing Scroll
Patched Magic Hat
Scarab Ring
Obsidian Dagger

So here is my question: Should i keep playing the stock market and save more money, or spend my 2 mill?

And then if I spend my 2 mill should it be on training my balanced pet, or buying better weapons for my lab rat? If anyone could reccomend some good weapons for a balanced pet that would be great too. I would love to have a pet able to use dual duties.
I am taking the assumption that you battle both 1-player and 2-player, so I will be suggesting a set for 2-player... for BOTH pets.

But first:

Weapons to sell:

Obsidian Daggers
Lesser Healing Scroll

Now, then...

Weapons that can be used by BOTH pets:

In hand:

Ramtors Spellbook

To purchase:

Downsize!
Purple Sticky Hand
Greater Healing Scroll
Snowglobe Staff

Weapons that can be used by labbed pet:

In hand:

Scarab Ring
Patched Magic Hat

To purchase:

Golden Compass
Frozen Wand of Crystal

*Purchasing those two dual duties ensures that, combined with what you have on your current set, you have defence against all icon types except air.

Weapons that can be used by trained pet:

To purchase:

Winged Scarab

Weapon to work on next:

Honey Potion

Heh, yeah me too.

And stocks are still my biggest moneymaker. Big Grin

Cadaver's covered weapons fairly well so I'm going to focus on your other questions.

Well you need to feed him Wink

But my bigger question is why codestones? You've been taking time off from training so you're not in a big rush, and NP is apparently the limiting factor for training. You're probably better off using the cheaper Dubloons to train at Krawk Island. (Unless of course dubloons have gotten a lot moe expensive in the last few months)

Only 88 levels out of balance, that's still worth training if you want to put some serious effort into it.

Well, on one hand The Stock Market is one of the best investments in Neopia, so you'll probably gain more NP in the long run if you hang on to them. On the other hand, you play the stock market to actually make NP, not just to watch the numbers.

I'd advise against selling everything, but go ahead and sell of some of your higher valued stocks to buy a few weapons. My long-term recommendation is to adopt a continuous accumulation strategy, where every month you buy slightly more stock than you sell. So long as you're buying at 15 and selling at some number sufficiently above 15 this will earn you steady income which increases (on average) every month.

If you're serious about fighting with your balanced pet, you probably should dubloon train him up to 80s and then codestone train up to 85s.

If you'd rather just use the lab pet, then you should consider moving the trained pet off to a side account and split your NP between improving his weapons and slowly training him towards even. If you go this route, take advantage of Turmaculous, Coltzan's Shrine, K-Quests and eventually Terror Trove level-ups to save NP.

While Cadaver gave you solid advice on a set, here's a short list of my favorite low-to-middlin' dual duties for you to peruse:

Scarab Ring
Jade Staff
Thief Dagger
Brilliant Wing Amulet
Cloudy Wand of Storms
Sword of the Dead
Amulet of Inevitable Betrayal
Frozen Wand of Crystals
Golden Compass
Winged Scarab - this works well for either trained or not trained pets.

Adding just a few more items to the list:

Ethereal Sword
Tooth of Terask

And of course, there's a host of Species Weapons that are dual dutied, cheap and good. Smile
Thanks a lot guys, that helped. I bought a downsize, purple sticky hand, snowglobe staff, and greater healing scroll and got rid of the lesser healing scroll and 2 obsidian daggers. For now I'm going to use snowballs or muffins for my last slot until i get a honey potion.

I completley forgot about dubloons. I will use those now and train to 80 like you said. Im going to hold off on buying any realy expensive weapons so i can train stats slowly and keep making a few more NP in the stock market.
