Does anyone else here mess with this game? I'm in love with it...been playing it now casually around a year every month...
Just curious.
I saw an old thread and I'm assuming from the response there not to many even bother but figured I'd try once more Toungue
there's good groups on the message boards that help with it,
but the premium board on charter is better then the games board one
I fought my way through pt once to get the av. and trophy. Go to the games board and look for "aug pt board #" or something like that. Read the first posts, they will direct you to the guides that everyone uses. Read the guides all the way through before asking questions on the board, most questions are answered in the guides and if you don't you will just make them yell at you. Following the guides there I finished pt at grandmaster level and finished in the top 30 or so players that month.

Warning: Finishing PT and doing it well is an all month long even in which you must check on your game about once an hour for eight hours a day. Its a grind but the gm score and trophy were worth it. By the end the 100K feels like a ripoff. For that much work it really should be at least 250K. lol gl
I did it for the trophy. In the old days when I wasn't making nearly as much as I do now, During the last 5 days of the month I would play it to make a quick 25,000NP (the payout used to be 25,000). After the change, I never played it again.
I made 500k last game, so I'll get silver as soon as they issue prizes. I had awful luck too, high prices starting out and then low prices right as the game was ending. If I had one more (tax free) day I could have earned gold, maybe I'll have better luck next month.

At any rate, not bad for my first try at it.
I tried it last month, and had far better luck than Forte - I finished the game with over 4mil CoH, which doesn't seem to bad for a first try. However, I disagree that the Plushie Tycoon boards are particularly useful, and the guides are rather limited as well. Even when I asked a question that was not mentioned anywhere in the guides (What is the average price of each material?), I was told by no fewer than three people to "go read a guide". Gee, how nice.
The regs. on there must have changed. I played it over a year ago, I found the people and guides very helpful and finished with over 20 or 30mil CoH. It was only my second try too, the first month I played a math error I made caused me to go bankrupt. My high score table says my score for pt is 1140.
Another thing that's changed is the game duration. Games last less than two weeks on average, now, apparently, making it just a bit harder to get gold.
the one on the games board yells at everybody now, the one on the premium boards is very nice, I'd likely be able to pass on the questions if you can't get answers (PM or neomail me) if you've no interest in actually joining as it is on the charter board.

But to give an answer:

the 'average' price is trivial as stocking up on parts is not suggested anymore. Instead you want to look at the total price per unit of plush made. In a 'start' month you have to try all the combinations and comparing the result sales (speed and per plush) and then the following month you come back and use the most efficient sellers for the costs of the materials that are down in price, until you can afford to sell off the best seller that you found, in large batches. If the sales numbers make a sudden large change, and continue to be wrong after you try other 'known' combinations, then there was one of the periodic changes and your back into a 'start' month.

I saw somebody make gold OVERNIGHT because they knew what the 'best' for them where.
Ah, the thing was, I didn't have enough CoH to buy all the materials I needed, and wouldn't get more until my next update. I wanted to know if I would most likely save or lose money by buying what I could before prices changed, which I could theoretically tell by whether the materials prices were above or below the average price. So, in that situation, the average price actually did matter to some extent. Not that the bright people on the board seemed to understand.

Anyhow, a new Plushie Tycoon game just started. Unfortunately for me. I'm gone for a week starting Friday, so I don't know if I'll be trying again this month, but we'll see.
if you can't afford to even make ONE set of 100 plush, don't make plush at those prices, wait for more sales
if you can only afford one set, go ahead but know it woln't complete.
rememebrer, full factory is a completed factory,
and the clock on the loding delay goes even not durring buisness hours.

the thing that turned me around was discovering that I really have to cram the factory full of workers
