So I was just happily listening to Marilyn Manson... Was wondering what people thought about him since he's so controversial. Some people are super against him and his music while others say he's just expressing his own creativity.. what's your rap on him?
He is free to do any kind of music.
Due his appereance, a lot of people blame him for violent events, such as Columbine, using the argument of "satanic", "evil" and such. He only gets free publicity with this.
I don't hear his music, only the "Sweet Dreams" cover
Haha that was actually the song I was listening to.. I think it's such a masterpiece.. it perfectly captures the real essence of the song.. Don't get me wrong.. I'm not hating on the Eurythmics at all, but I LOVE his version of it.. It's sexy B)
Eurythmics' song is quite cheerfull, Mailyn Manson's cover is way more darkers, a good way to show the meaning of looking for a dream.
I am a fan of only a few of Mansons songs. Mostly covers and "this is the new S..." I don't mind his looks at all. He does nothing wrong and i think that judging someone by looks in the year 2007 is just plain dumb. Someone with weird looks isn't less intelligent because he likes to look different. Manson is a very smart man. I've seen him on talkshows and he is very relaxed and talks in a very smart manner. His looks don't make him stupid of any less of a man.
This reminds me of a few things. i got turned down for a job because i have half black, half red hair. If someone is too ignorant to see that someone with weird hair can be a hard worker then they do not deserve my time and effort because they are too low in my esteem for me to work for them.
Other thing. Through Glass is one of stone sours songs. A friend of mine said she hated all metal music and she especially hated slipknot. Ignorance because she has no idea who they are or hasn't even listened to one of their songs. yet She likes through glass. (which is a calm acoustic song) i told her it was by slipknots singer and a guitarist. She said that people who do music like slipknot cannot possibly make a song like that. Stupidity right there. Its like saying people who make different kinds of music don't have souls. They can't think properly and don't have feelings.
This can easily be linked to Manson and his looks and what people think about him. Just because he likes to look different, that doesn't mean that his music can't be a masterpeice. People don't even take the time and effort to listen to someone work because of the way they look. It is people like that, who think they are so smart and above everyone, who cause problems, arguments and mass ignorance.
It doesn't matter what he looks like. The guys alive, obviously musically talented, he can sing, he is very smart. He deserves every bit of attention as anyone else does. It is sad that people who can really think have to be downed by ignorant simple minded people who then turn to the overly commercial bands which are told what to do because they can't think for them selves. Music like Mansons is something which will never be commercialized and I think that it is because manson is a smart man with great ideas to represent what he is and not what the media want to show the ignorant people to make millions. Sure some people just follow the fad and listen to his stuff. But its better then the close minded people who don't even listen to it because its "evil". Ohh no! A man that can think for himself in the music industry, he must be evil. And you will realize that most band that can think for themselves in the music industry are concidered "bad" and "evil".
SOme metalcore and screamo bands talk about REAL things. Yet what do you hear on the radio? "hit me baby one for time". A smart person will only judge when he understand what the song is about. I am a huge metalcore fan yet I love classical piano. I love songs about real things. They can be super calm and even called cheesy. They are about something real and thats what sets them apart from all the stuff we hear on the radio.
Manson rights about something which is him. Sure some of his songs are weird but they are real because they are not what the media is trying to inject into our brains. There is meaning to mansons lyrics. I dare some of you to go look some of them up. They are meaningful.

I am a fan of Manson's music. I am not worshipping the ground he walks on (some things about him is just meh to me), but on the whole I think he is pretty cool and I do think highly of his talents and intellect. I like "This is the new S", "1996", and his cover of "Tainted Love" best. His instrumental for the first "Resident Evil" soundtrack movie is awesome too.
Of course, he's one of others that I admire: NIN, RATM, Slipknot, The Prodigy etc. Basically I categorise them as pioneers in their own right.
Manson is interesting to say the least. Back in Middle School, i was over at somebody's house and we were watchi MTV2, and "The Beautiful People" happened to come up. I naturally wanted to stay on the channel and watch, and while we were all freaked out, i was the only one that seemed to enjoy watching it. i thought it was inspiring. *shrugs*

None taken. Im not even a big manson fan. What I said is for everything in general. i feel that everyone has a right to look how they want to look. Its disgusting the way people degrade a person who doesn't dress "normally". I have Half and half colored hair. Red and Black. Many people look down on me as if i was a stupid person who is incapable of thought. Yet I am above average in school. i've travelled the world and have learnt a lot about cultures and different people. I'm not saying I'm superior to anyone. I am saying that what they think about me is entirly wrong. I am an equal to them and I have the same potential in life as anyone else who has done what i have done. Some color in hair should not change a person. i like having weird hair is all. Doesn't mean ill go sell drugs and kill some people.
