While certainly not as badly hit as the dial-up users, loading times have noticeably increased for me. Was never really able to RS in the past, now remove the 'really' from that statement. :/ Just as well games are my main source of income. Clutter is somewhat displeasing to the eye, but since mine is a wide-screen monitor it doesn't matter as much. I can't be bothered to re-do my user lookup now, guess I'll stick to the default.
My Gelert looks absolutely horrible.
Irrelevantly, I had to switch my sidebard theme from the Altador Cup one since I couldn't properly read my amount of neopoints, heh.
I guess I'll be slightly different and say that the new userlookups are amazing. What TNT needs is to give everyone more options, which hopefully will come soon. Basically if they give us more choice, the happier we are. If we can turn off those millions of random images that slow down our RSing or browsing cuz of dialup, then we'd be happier
I don't like the neofriends online thing, now ppl can stalk me
But I do hope that the malling industry stays alive. I just entered and have yet to make back my investments...
i hate it more than all u guys

Shattered Rift Wrote:I'm still crossing my fingers that malling doesn't get shafted because of this. If it does, Neopia's economy will officially take it up the... well, use your imagination. The majority of the mallers were originally restockers, and if they have to return to that medium to earn cash, restocking will have twice if not three times its current competition.
Why would malling go down the tubes? can you now use the SW when you have faerie quest or something?
Anyways, I suspect it depends on which shops you RS. I'm fairly certain that there are more RSers out there than mallers, so on average, the competition wouldn't double, especialy with all the people quitting. However, the mallers would probably all head for the shops with the most potential for profit... Battle Magic, Defense Magic, Brightvale Potions, Magical Marvels, Stamp, and Plushie, among others would probably get swamped once the Ex-mallers RSing Reflexes came back, where as alot of the less popular but still pretty profitable shops wouldn't see much of a net influx in competition between the people quitting neo and mallers getting back into restocking.
Malling may become obsolete because (I had to ask somebody on the neoboards to get this answer

) under the "Shops" menu at the top, the Shop Wiz is like the second or third link there, making it extremely easier for newbies to go to the shop wizard instead of the marketplace, which takes two clicks.
what graphite said about malling...i've noticed a huge hit in my sales today

it stinks.
My issues are that I can't code worth a crap or do gfx for that matter so I'm sol on my userlookup, pet and gallery. They completely obliterated my baby nimmo and its horridly ugly so now my siggy avvie userlookup petpage and the pet i really really liked are gone.
I don't like being stalked while on there. I'm council in a guild and that's not a nice thing let me tell you.
The increased bandwidth is horrible and having to look at my horridly ugly pet all the time on every page is just...blah. i really feel sorry for those of you who are on dialup. i'm on a 10 mb/s line and its horribly slow still (well compared to before...going 3-5s page loads).
the neoclock is in a really bad place and hard to see and small.
the event icon being so tiny.
i feel bad for visually impaired people! what are they supposed to do?
i do like the drop down menus. that is about the only positive i can find in all of this.
and sure ya ok tnt are actually doing something big. big whoop there's so many bugs and glitches and things that could have been done.
i'm done sorry. /rant.
In regards to malling...
Actually, I doubt the Shop Wizard button being there will impact it very much. Remember, the Shop Wizard icon was in the same navbar that took users to the Main Marketplace, and for that matter, there's a big blue SW house sitting in the middle of the Main Marketplace sitting out like a sore thumb. I'd actually be surprised if the newbies didn't know about, rather I don't think they understood how to use it.
The problem comes in the links: before, we had Pet Central as the main way to get to our Inventories (or at least I used it, and every user that logs in goes through it), and it no longer links there, so far as I can tell. The second way to get there was the Shops link that took you straight to Neopia Central, whereas now that dropdown is the only way to get there. I might be forgetting one more way.
I haven't had my Shop at the top of my hut, and I was noticing a lull in my profits all this week anyway. My mall leader said he was still doing fine, though I'm not sure if that was just moral support or if he really is faring well. A bigger problem is that all of us are biting our nails and nervous about every short-coming, whereas before there were bad days. It's probably going to be a good two weeks before we all have a really clear idea about the state of malling.
As far as the restocking: no, not all of the mallers were great and able to compete in the high-end Shops. I ended up taking the Furny/Gardning position in my mall since those had been two Shops I'd restocked in. Even if I hadn't picked restocking back up at the beginning of this month, I'd still return there anyway, even if it isn't multi-million profit.
With competition, we need to start dividing up the numbers we finally have. Right now, there are 45,000 users on Neo. At midnight, there were around 22,000. At the peak yesterday, we had just shy of 60,000, I think. Now that we finally know for a fact how many users are logged in at a given time, we can start whittling down the number we're actually going against in any regards. There's a wager I'd like to make about restocking: I don't think there were more than a dozen people in a given Shop at a given time that were capable of restocking in that Shop. Factor in that there are fifty or so profitable Shops, and my estimate would say there are 600 people restocking at a time (less during the night). And I still think my estimate is high, but I'm basing it on a simple fact: we do catch restocks. If there was really a ton of competition, we simply wouldn't be able to.
And with that figure, also remember that there are about 700 mallers in Neopia that are Main Marketplace size. I'm still placing my bet that restocking competition would at least double, since there are as many non-malling users quitting as there are mallers, ratio-wise. Possibly less mallers are quitting, since nearly all of them are Neopia's upper-class.

Two. Your NP total on the top of the screen linked to your inventory, and neopia central is on the explore map.
Re. restock, the lag just killed it, at least for me.
I've been a pretty good restocker and used to be able to get some UBs on a daily basis. I have a pretty fast connection (DSL), and a pretty fast computer (P5 3 GHz, 2GB RAM). Before the layout change, it took me a couple of seconds to get to the haggle page, and another 3-4 seconds to enter the price and finish the transaction. This gives me a chance to compete with the ABer since most of them rely on refreshing at a 5-10 sec interval, and if timing is on my side, I could finish my transaction before their next refresh.
Since the layout change, it took consistently 5-7 sec just to get to the haggle page, if I could get there at all before the item is sold out. All I could get yesterday was just a bunch of Angelpusses

.
The old skin was fine, why change it? >.<

*hides from all the objects surely about to get thrown at him*
I've actually been doing pretty good RSing today... Pages are taking a couple seconds to load, but I guess that's faster than most people. I'm not sure weather the connection I have now is technically DSL or not, but I know it runs on fiberoptics, and is faster than regular DSL. Not the fastest thing out there, but pretty darn fast. I guess with everyone's connection dying/ lagging due to the graphics heavy layout, connection speed just became a much larger factor in RSing. I wish the lag would go away, though... Despite being smaller than most people's, it's still annoying, and I feel sorry for all the people who were formerly able to make a ton RSing who are now struggling to figure out how to keep up with thier pet's training. And for all the people ugly pets, perticularilly the ones who's poses were wrecked/ the essance of what the pet is got changed so that they could wear human-ish cloths. *cough* boris *cough* *cough* kikos *cough* *cough* fruit chias *cough* *cough* ect *cough* Basically, what we've all been saying: they should go back to the old layout. (Although it's pretty unlikely, unfourtunately... they might tone down the graphic-heaviness of this one, though)
